As an antidote to the terrible experiences some have had as reported in the current 'snobby' thread, where have you been made to feel most welcome?

Two contrasting days stick in my min. First at Castle Stuart on the Forum Meet last year, the staff were universally welcoming , helpful etc etc. Can't fault them in their treatment of me nor my wife who was a non-playing hanger on. Secondly, and a wee bit different, at the island 9-holer above Tobermory(Mull) the tea lady/starter/cleaner ( and no doubt greenskeeper!) in the wee hut was most gracious and helpful in making sure I as an unannounced walk on had all I needed. Made the day a memorable pleasure.

What's your feel good story ?

A few stick out....

Castle Stuart although not unexpected there.

Tain and Fortrose were equally welcoming from a staff point of view.

Best has to be Blackpool North Shore when we were doing the longest day last year. We were on about the 5th hole and the Captain and Secretary had wandered across the course to welcome us to the club (we set off before they were there), wish us luck and also offer us a drink on them in the clubhouse after. Will always stick in my mind, a really nice touch

North Berwick. There is a sign out the front telling visitors that they are members for the day & as such are entitled to use all the facilities and that the other members will make them welcome, and everyone I met, member or staff, lived up to the notice for both me and my non-playing hanger on.

On a slightly different tack, the three links courses where the southern contingent go for their winter links fix all have extremely welcoming members; at Littlestone, Royal Cinque Ports and Royal St. Georges, members were quick to enquire if we had enjoyed ourselves and answer any questions we had. They clearly had a pride in their clubs without being in your face or bragging about it.

Maybe it's a links thing….?

I was going to say the same about North berwick

(Not just saying this because you started thread Ian)
But it was a great experience when I played both times

I would also agree with North Berwick. After our round the secretary sat and chatted to us for ages, really gave the impression that they wanted us to be there.

Castle course St Andrews without a doubt.

Sunningdale was nice that they put a board up welcoming our fourball. Nice touch and all the staff were very friendly.

West Hill is always friendly, and Gina and Jane in the office always look after you, and have time for a chat.

Agree about RCP and RSG's and Littlestone as well.

Like to think my course is pretty welcoming.

Visited Barrow GC a few years ago and I was sat in the bar after our round wearing not exactly trainers but shoes that could be seen that way. Just one other group of people in there and a guy heads over to us just after we'd sat down with our drinks....."Here we go" I thought.....then he introduced himself as the Captain, asked how we'd found the course and if we'd enjoyed the day. Really nice and genuine guy. What a refreshing change!

I'd agree with BIM about Littlestone, Royal Cinque Ports and a Royal St George's, I also thought Blackmoor, West Hill and North Hants were very friendly too, in fact, I've experienced very few unfriendly clubs in my time.

North Berwick.

The guy that greeted us took us on a tour of the club and gave us an insight into the history of the place. Told us we were members for the day so enjoy the whole club.

Not played any of the top, top venues some of you guys have played
But most welcoming, and defo not snobby, for a top complex, was Archerfield.
Great day all round, great experience.
Everybody is welcoming and pleasant, and treat equal

For me, Carmarthen Golf Club.

I played it on the third day of a small trip around West Wales. On turning up, the pro came out to greet us, gave us written up scorecards (really nice touch), gave us a tour including some tips, and talked us through the place generally. He then offered the winner of our three ball a free pack of balls, which was another top touch.

After the round the clubhouse was dead, but one of the few members came up for a chat about how we found the course, and changes it was making. Overall couldn't have felt more welcome!

Castle Stuart in a different league for a welcome but at the price you would expect it.

Royal Ltham was nice as well, the guy who welcomed us in the clubhouse and showed us around was superb.

And a vote for Hickleton near Doncaster, captain of the club came over to us to ask if we had a good round and did we enjoy the course, nice touch that and really left the right impression of the club.

Agree with

Will finish this off

Agree with others in regards West Hill and RCP

Blackmoor is defiantly up there as is Centurion

North Hants was good when we played there in society

But Littlestone last year was extremely welcoming from start to finish - you could see the pride in the members when they asked how the round was - offering us free food and a drink.

Even my Playing Partner was very welcoming that day by agreeing to let the oppo play against just one of us :D

Outlane GC near Huddersfield. The pro chatted to us about our own club and was really welcoming. He then introduced us to the 4 ball in front and asked them to guide us on a couple of the holes and a couple of the less obvious walks from greens to the next tees. They not only did this but also acted as forecaddies if we hit the ball in the rough and pointed out the line on any blind tee shots.
The pro joined us in the bar afterwards (stewards day off) and we spent a really pleasant half hour discussing the course, the clubhouse and generally putting the World to rights. We felt like guests rather than just paying customers.

Royal Liverpool and Silloth stand out for me. We were treated like members for the day at both. All the staff and members alike were always smiling and were very welcoming.

Also a nod towards The Roxburghe, The Carrick and Hillside. Treated really well at both, nice and friendly staff as well.
