I broke my record today, completed my sixth round since I last lost a ball. I know it is easier in the winter with depleted rough but I am still pleased with myself as last year I was doing well to complete a round with the same ball.

What's your record? how many balls do you get through in a season?

Haven't lost one for ages .... Finished my round with another ball today, previous ball used was deposited in the lake on the 17th !!

....it's not lost, I know exactly where it is ;)

I'll probably end up with it when I buy some more lake balls later on in the year. Let's cut out the middle man and draw me a map, I'll bring my speedos and a snorkle.

Not at my place. On some holes its that think stuff and it dives straight in with no bounce and buries itself in the thick tufts. The only chance you have is for someone to step on it and if you do find it its virtually impossible to play.

You really have to know where to miss it at the moment. To be honest the rough needs a damns good cut as its way to penal for a members club and the proximity of this really thick stuff means a lot of players are finding it and pace of play is slowing. I'm all for being punished but a nice semi and then some juicy 3 inch stuff that you can see a ball in but in which it sinks to the bottom means a 7 iron at best is all you'll get on it. Add in the fact this thick stuff doesn't add anything visually to the look of the course and I'd like to see it given a real cut back

We have had ours cut back a bit but the cold weather seems to have had an impact. Could just do with a chainsaw in the bag to thin out a few trees, then life would be much more straight forward.

Bit like Hawkeye, it's not something I keep a check on so I wouldn't know - I know I haven't lost one for a while though.
One thing I do know is that I haven't had a triple bogey this year yet...

Probably a cat thing I suspect. I'm off 20.5 so just about to enter cat 3, I guess it is an indication of improvement that creates a welcome change in the lost ball department. I've only been playing 18 months so still nothing more than a novice learner tbh.

Best thing I ever did though taking up golf. I've met some great people, learnt so much and thrive on the challenge to improve and learn more - the beginning of a lifetime pursuit I'm sure.

its all subjective- my best is 2 rounds in summer

My Fiance's (now swmbo) best was..... never ever lost a ball........ and we played some hard courses, she couldnt hit further than 150 on a good day so there lies the rub!

I used, out of necessity due to the white ground conditions, a yellow or more accurately a pish coloured Noodle Ice on Saturday,a ball I must have had now for maybe 3 winters and used for I dunno maybe ten rounds during that period!
