Got told by my mate this morning that 3 Greens at the course had been damaged by some moron in a stolen 4x4 deciding to bulldoze his way onto the course via a farmers fence and proceeding to go cross country and do donuts on the greens.

Not content with stealing someones property they don't care about the impact they have on hundreds of other law abiding citizens for 5 minutes thrill. I know where I'd like to tee up my next ball - given my current ball striking a misshit is almost assured.

It often worries me that if the local toughs living in the vicinity of any course understood how much mindless damage they could inflict on a course by simply taking a pickaxe to greens, then we'd all have so much more vandalism to endure.

Crazy that like, thats properly planned that to burn words onto the greens!!

The vague silhouette of the words persisted for a very long time, too. The person knew exactly what to use to cause long lasting damage and took real care when applying it. Rumours were abound of a disgruntled groundskeeper who wasn't retained after the merger.

Yeah its defintely a 'revenge' sort of job that, rather than a mindless act of vandalism

I know it looks bad now but a similar thing happened at my previous club and in reality it's not as bad as it seems. If properly repaired, you'll hardly notice a thing in a couple of weeks, especially at this time of year as the growing season is just about to start.

Chin up fella, don't let the imbeciles win

I know a bloke through work on the committee at Atherstone GC, I've played it a few times with him.

lovely course, greens were pretty good IIRC
