Decided at work yesterday to go golf this morning and we have set the rules of, only 2 clubs allowed,1 has to be a putter. That gives us a choice of 1 club, i am going with my 7 iron as i can use that for chipping and normal shots.

I believe it is possible to do it in sub 100, but being as my average score is around the 90's now, it maybe a bit more than i can chew.

So what would everyone else's choice of club be?

I would probably do most of my "chipping" with a putter, it would be a 50 yards and in club if it was dry and rolling enough. My other club then would be my 5 wood. My main aim would be to stay out of bunkers!

If it was wet I would probably use a mid iron, 6 or something.

I am amazed at how many people want to "waste" their non putter so they can chip as I see as long as its dry I could be more than adequate with a putter around the green.

+1

I can see the point of a half-set or even a 3+putter as it does make you think about shots but just 1 club + a putter?
Can't see any value in it.
Might as well go to the range.

Agreed , one club + putter seems like a waste of time. Best to take something for off the tees with a bit of distance , a mid iron and something for round the greens. You'll get far more out of that tbh

well, only did a 113, my putter let me down loads, 40 putts. Was interesting to see that i could make the greens on some with 2 shots on the par 4's. We only did it to see if we could break 100. Had nothing better to do and as we are members it didnt cost us anything and was a bit of fun :)
