In your experience, what do people tend to do when you shout Fore! at them?

Very rarely do I see anyone actually take emergency evasive action, such as ducking or covering their head with their hands. Most stop what they're doing, look in the direction of the shout and risk getting the good news straight between the eyes.

I hit a bad slice last summer from the 8th tee into the 6th green. Someone was putting out so i shouted fore. he totally ignored me and it missed his head by inches. he than looked puzzled that it came so close but did admit that he heard my shout but thought it wasn't intended for him. On average people look more shocked that someone has actually shouted fore. One of the reasons i moved clubs.

Any fores and our fourbal all usually shout it, guys in the firing line do usually get their heads covered. There is the odd time where you aren't sure whether to shout as it isn't going directly at them but if you were to shout, they might take a few steps in the wrong direction.

I always cover my head on the off chance and always shout fore whenever it is going within proximity of other golfers. I'd rather shout and it land 20 yards short than think it'll be safe and it take a bounce and crash into someone

I wish the following group today had let us get more than 5 yds away from the 18th before the first one decided to play. I think there was a "fore" but 3 was nearer the amount of feet the ball missed me by.

i must admit i do turn my back and duck with my hands covering my head.
also when i spray a drive on to another fairway, with other golfers on, i do point at the direction the ball is going , so they know its coming in their direction.

I usually cover my head but there are a couple of tees that are dangerous spots as wayward drive from another tee could easily hit you. As I am generally at a standstill then I have been known to duck down behind my trolley as I know where the ball is coming from and know it will be travelling at a fair.

must admit I tended to turn toward, it's instinctive to try to see where trouble is coming from.
However having now joined the fraternity of the 'hit' I may be trying something different.

Turn away from the shout direction, cover my head and stick my arse up in the air. At least there is some padding there if I get a direct hit.
