I really don't get the amount of vitriol on this board for a truly great British golfer.

Completly agree. A really good ambassador for the European tour for years. I thought it was a real shame he never won a major.I really don't get the amount of vitriol on this board for a truly great British golfer.
seconded.
It might have something to do with Montys general attitude.........I really don't get the amount of vitriol on this board for a truly great British golfer.
It might have something to do with Montys general attitude.........
.........or his nationality.
I have met him a few times off the golf course and he is a genuine nice guy with a wide range of sporting interests.
He is ultra competitive on the golf course which some see as a poor attitude.
Why would it have anything to do with his nationality?

We had this debate a few weeks ago and I said then the top American tour players tanned Colin's backside on the PGA tour and in the majors so why would he think they couldn't do it in the seniors, the likes of LANGER andWATSONstill give the young bucks a run for their money, and the question is is COLIN prepared to put the hours in to keep his game on top form to compete.
and how many majors have the best players on the senior tour won between them, and were they winning them when he was at his prime,so why does he think it will be any different now,I hope he does win one but he will have to up his game to their levell first....and was it not pointed out to you he was 2nd three times in the US Open...........not exactly tanned how many other British or European golfers can say that

Where has this come from? Who says he thinks it will be any different? Could it maybe just be that he wants to get back out playing and the seniors tour is still competitive whilst not being up against these 300+ yard drivers??
