Well he's done it again. From a reasonable position after day 1 he's missed the cut at Loch Lomond. I don't think he has the real desire anymore. if the can't get himself "up" or "in the zone" for his National Championship then how's he going to do it at the Majors or the Ryder Cup?

Sad to see for sure as he's been a stalwart of Europe for ever but the time I think is coming... And with Donald now out of the Open and a few weeks after that, he may stuggle to make Vallhalla. On todays form can't see Monty getting there either.

On a sideline Poulter doesn't think he's offended anyone by allegedly calling himself a "ponce" ??????

I'm not at all PC but I can see some backlash coming on this one. And I heard the phrase. Didn't sound like ponce to me????

The BBC coverage seemed a bit dull. HID recorded it for me and I've watched every minute of yesterdays broadcast and they only seemed to show half a dozen groups on the back half of their rounds. Lots of pro's lining up putts and deliberating over a 4 or 5 iron but less action than I would have liked.

The coverage was rubbish but not in the same league for bad coverage as any of the American stuff. I am watching Setanta now and all they show is the players in contention and replays.

As for Monty, I like the bloke but he is defo becoming a bit of a joke, He needs to cheer up and start enjoying his last few years of pro golf.

The pros and cons of being Monty have been discussed rather heatedly on here in the past, all I will say is, despite being a Scot, I have never been a fan.
Arrogance, petulence, rudeness and laziness are not characteristics that endear yourself to people, even if you are a talented golfer.... at times! :(

Sadly, I don't think Monty has anything else except the tour. I've not heard of him designing courses (and lot's of competition in that area), can't see him as a commentator and other than a stint as a Ryder Cup captain (likely but successful?) all that's left is fade away.

Sadly a player in freefall at the end of his carrer, much like Best going to Fulham at the end of his. Its a shame because like him or not he has been a figurehead in European golf. I'd like to see him go away for a few years and enjoy his new married life and business ventures, come back with his putting sorted and give the seniors a good go

Never met the guy but know some people who have worked with and for him.

One is very senior in the PGA and through the Ryder Cup has spent lots of time with him,he describes Monty as charming/funny and bright.

Another worked for IMG and was responsible for organising logistics (moves etc.) she described Monty as kind and endlessley patient but called Eimar "bitch queen from Hell".

Finally one of my pals works for Lacoste and he has nothing but good to say about him.

He must undergo some sort of transformation with a club in his hand!!
