Just say the first tee time for your monthly medal is 07.30 and the last is at 4pm and each tee time is booked solid from start to finish, how long would the last groups take if the first group took 5 hours to play 18 holes?

3.30 to 3.45

No idea, but I wouldn't want to be in the last group

Not enough info!

Did they let any groups through?

What were the gaps between Tee times?

Does 'booked solid' allow for the 1 each hour or so eliminated as a buffer?

What is the 'standard time' for a Medal round on the course?

How damp is the finger I'm holding up - to guage the breeze?

How much can you trust a Used Car Salesman?

If it was just that one group playing slowly then time would be gradually made up over the rest of the afternoon players - although I doubt it.

The answer is too long that is for sure.

no way of telling really , groups in the middle could fall back a bit , if a few people missed their tee times by 4 mins took the penalty & played , few groups could walk in at that rate ..
too many things to distort the 5 hour cover all timeline ..

if it took the first grouo 5 hours then there is something very very wrong....

Well if everyone followed the same 5hr round and all started and maintained equal times throughout the round then the 16:00hrs tee time would finish at 21:00hrs.

16:00hrs + 05:00hrs = 21:00hrs

Of course that's assuming everyone playing a perfect round, not stopping and no hold ups, round duration would also depend on where your par 3's are and what par follows them as to how long people would end up getting stacked on the par 3 and how much time could then be made up on the following holes.

Edit**

This is by no means accurate, but if you assume a 4min delay after the first group on each par4 and 5 and a 6 min delay in teeing off on each par 3 and a generous 1 min walking time from green to tee box, then the last group could be looking at a 22:45hrs finish time.

The above was based on my course lay out to get the figures.

Tee times would get delayed as the groups build up though so it would be even longer.

Would it be fair to say that generally a 5 hour 4 ball going out first could dictate the speed of play ALL DAY ?

They would have to.

If the first group takes 5 hours then, unless there are gaps, everyone behind has to at least take 5 hours.

Did a bit more working out, see the edit in my first post, but I reckon the last group would be looking at 22:45hrs finish.

Surely that can't be right? I don't think I've ever seen a 6 hour 45 minute round? I can't refute your logic, but surely there must be something wrong somewhere, otherwise this would be more common?

That will include the inevitable delay of tee time as the field will be backed right up.

4 ball Medal? Not the norm.

Certainly a slow 1st group can problems to more folk than a slow last group would. I would expect 'ALL DAY' is a bit excessive, but without proper etiquette, possible. So some sort of oversight, such as Marshalling, is almost certainly required.

Is there a point to the thread - apart from making folk think - yet to be announced? Does it happen at 'your place'?
