After 10 years good service I broke my trusty potato peeler at 11 am Saturday morning.
Ordered a new one online at 11.30am and it is being delivered at 10.45am Sunday.
No wonder the High Streets are empty.

another option would be ,11-15am go to shop, 11-30am buy peeler,11-45am carry on peeling potatos, just a thought as to why shops are closing .

I needed to replace a 13 amp plug on an iron. Went into several shops selling electrical accessories. No joy. Asked if they sold 13amp fuses. Got a look from one young assistant that I imagined was "for your gramophone player, grandad?" So assistant in John Lewis said to try Amazon, so I did. 3 for £2 delivered next day.

I had finished peeling and probably the nearest potato peeler shop would have been 14 miles away. [28 mile journey]
They would probably not have sold the one I wanted so it would have been a trawl around other shops until I found it.

14 miles to the nearest shop that could sell those little essential items we all need at times, there's a business venture to be had in that area :smirk:

What, open a potato peeler shop in the middle of nowhere, just in case Doon needs one, I can see branches of "Peelers R US" in green fields all over the countryside :)

Don't forget 13amp plugs and fuses, probably a bit of fuse wire also, don't think they've got consumer boxes up that far yet :smirk:

Out of interest what is this 'special' peeler that feel out performs an every day 'Lancashire' bog standard one..

BTW... Well impressed you kept same peeler for 10 years...
I manage to throw away, with the peelings, at least two a year...

Anyone hear the story about the lady who took 7 hours to buy one item at Xmas due to traffic? I think the wife and I did not even spend that on all presents in total
