Afternoon all,

After a lot of luck turing £10 into £1100 on a football coupon last night im exploring the idea of changing my irons for something more forgiving from the Mizuno range. I will probably just get a set 2nd hand as ill be staying with the S400 shafts that are in the 57's. Have looked at the JPX Pro range or the MP53's but im not sure where they stand in relation to the 57's I currently have... Does anyone know if these would be a bit more forgiving than my current irons?

Thanks
David

Both those options would be more forgiving. I went from 57s to the initial JPX800 Pros and there was a huge difference. Even the 53s would be a more forgiving option IMO. I found the 57s were great when going well, but just a tad too much to handle if firing a bit rough.

Thanks DCB.. I'll look into trying some JPX Pro's as they could be the ticket, i've not heard any bad things about them I just wasnt sure if there would be a big difference between them and what I already have.

I totally agree with your last comment... my ball striking aint been the best part of my game recently and the 57's certainly show that up in ball flight and lack of distance if not hit pretty flush!

Mizuno MP54's, JPX825.

Or

Go for a combo set with 54's/825 in the longer clubs with 64/T4 in the shorter bats.

If you want forgiveness throughout the bag, get the 54's

825, 53 and 54 will need to be tried....honestly think the 64 would be to much club for me just now.

Was actually considering a combo set but adding a 2 and 3 iron H4 into the set. Cant hit fairways or hybrids so seems like a good option for me.

You might not find S400s too easily in second hand.

The MP range are all entirely suitable for very good players (Luke D etc) through to decent club golfers, so it depends what you like the look and feel of. The JPX range are not far behind, but are a bit more game improvement. Still, Stacy Lewis did OK with them at St Andrews recently.

The 54s are a nice balance between players and forgiveness, and the combo set of MP54 (3 to 7) and MP4 (8 - PW) would be a lovely set.

Thats not to much of a problem Ethan, was just going to pop my S400's from the 57's into the new Mizuno heads anyways :D

I actually went up to AG yesterday to have a shot of the 54's and JPX Pro. They both look and feel great, don't expect it will be long before one of them is in the bag. Think the setup ill be going for will be H4 (2 and 3) then MP54 (4 - PW) the 54's just look so good.
