Hello

I have had a set of Mizuno MX100s for 5 years or so now and feel a step up is needed. These have a massive cavity but I am after irons with more feel and a thin top line.

I am a Mizuno head and have fallen in love with the look of the MP54 (especially as recently they have fallen in price as I assume a newer version is due).

Has anyone got a set or tried a set of these and can offer any advice?

I have held them and the heads look quite small. I appreciate I need to go hit them but before doing so would be grateful to hear from anyone that has experience of them.

Many thanks

It's a generic issue not specific to Mizuno.

Smaller heads, thinner top line, thinner soles and less offset. ... Usually slightly greater lofts per club (irrelevant but just to complete the picture).

The effect is that you need to hit the center of the face more consistently, the small ball before the big ball (less help from the sole on slightly fat shots) and will need to be more precise with the relationship between the hands and club head (less offset gives less dynamic tolerance).

I recommend the MP-57s if your going that way, loads of forgiveness (relatively) and look great! Could see anyone down to single figs and lower!

Personally I would look at the Cleveland sets, mixing up some wider soles for the longer clubs and mid cavity for the lowers. My dream set is hybrids to the 5 iron, 6-9 in mid cavity and bladed wedges
