Evening all,

I have a chance of buying a set of these for 150 euro...3 - PW..
Regular shafts and standard loft and lie......Good condition......Anyone got any info on them.....Are they worth the money and are they playable for Mid Cappers

really for 150 euro? I'd buy them! :)

Thats what im thinking james....I dont know much about them only that they are a players full cavity back Iron that are supposed to be more forgiving than most of the other MP range!
Im hoping someone on here will enlighten me. ;)

I've played them. They're not bad, but can be a little finiky at times if you're not swinging well. Drop the 3&4 irons and get a couple of hybrids in their place and you'll be fine.

We share the exact same current handicap and I play these clubs.

If you are looking for something forgiving that will let you get away with bad shots, these are not for you.

If you are looking for something that has some forgiveness (i.e. only punishes bad shots, just diminishes ok-ish shots) but that feels like kissing a butter angel when you flush it, then these are for you.

I love them. If I hit a poor shot, the result is poor. If I hit an average to below-average shot, I will get an OK but not great outcome. Anything good and the results are lovely. Great ball flight, good penetration on the longer clubs and excellent maleability of the ball.

I've hit brilliant big draws/fades, long low punches and all manner of shots with these.

As you are the same h/c as me, I'm guessing you'll have a similar game ability and these will encourage you to improve your game rather than rely on a club to let you get away with a wobbly swing. I didn't bother with the 3i (it's still in its wrapper) but I can play the 4i fine and the 3i gap is filled by a 21deg hybrid.

In short, at that price, buy 'em!

Oh, and they look frikkin' awesome in your bag, at address, in your hand, everything. Them Japs know a thing or two about working with metal you know...

...and they're muscle back irons, not cavity.

Good plug Toonarmy ;)

I really only struggle with my 4 Iron at the moment....Inconsistency is in my short game and the odd wayward tee shot into the cabbage.
My swing is pretty repeatable but im working on a few things at the moment.

Kid. If I remember correctly, didn't you start the year with some FG Tours, but got the Cobras because they were easier to hit? Or am I getting confused in my old age?

Anyway for the price. Why not. You'd not really lose anything I'd imagine if you didn't get on with them and had to sell them. Better that than wishing you had tried and didn't.

I would guess there's a tad more forgiveness in the 57's compared to the FG Tours but not a lot.
Depends on how well you're hitting your irons.
But as Hapless says, at that price you ain't gonna lose any cash if you have to re-sell.

There is a man who may have mentioned buying a set recently. He will be in touch :D

Who can you possibly mean?....... :D :D :D

I have no idea who you are talking about! :D

But in all seriousness, I've had mine for a couple of months (got 'em cheap! :D) and Toonarmy is spot on with his review. They are excellent clubs and for that price you're getting a steal.

Excellent review by toonarmy. Exactly the reason why I think this kind of club is a great for anyone under about 18 h/c who wants to improve.

I use MP30's which are very similar but I have an ex-demo MP57 that I like to hit on the range and it's great. There's only one way to find out if they are right for you however and that's to give them a try.

150 euros sounds like a good price , often go for around £175 on e-bay.

They say "cut muscle" on the back but I wouldn't say they are musclebacks, that just refers to the little groove on the blade part.

As I understand it a muscleback iron is basically a blade type that curves and bulges out slightly at the back like a muscle as opposed to a true blade which back in the day had a flat back like a...well like a blade. I think MacGregor coined the term in the 60s and their Muirfield irons were the classic musclebacks. More recently the older style Cleveland CG1 or the current Wilson FG62s are what I'd call musclebacks.

I'd classify the MP57 as a semi-blade. The "cavity" is hardly worth the name. Like toonarmy says, enough to forgive a slight mis-hit, but that's your lot! It does however mean you get great feedback and a lovely feel when you middle it.

The way your handicap has been dropping this year Kid, if you cant use them right away you will be able to soon. I would jump all over them at that price.

I use mp 57's and havnt got a bad word to say about them. Lovely looking club and when you flush it boy it stays flushed. They do mark up quickly but they are forged after all.

If you swing competently adn are improving then these will be fine for you, if youre pretty inconsistent then maybe look elsewhere tbh

Your spot on Hapless......Im still keeping the cobra's.......I was just thinking that there pretty cheap at the price!

I'd get them and if you can't use them go back to the Cobras. I'm still trying to get a chance to demo all the new Mizzy gear and so can't say how I'd hit them (rubbish like all the others probably) but if they play half as well as they look they must be pretty good.
