After seeing Luke Donald trialling the new Mizuno JPX850 driver I did a little bit of digging to find out more info, due dates etc...

It wasn't very hard as the Mizuno forum provided the info, it would appear that the 850 will be available in Feb 2015, maybe sooner if testing goes well. The driver will be adjustable from 7.5 to 10.5 degrees of loft with adjustable weights, there will also be a fairway and hybrid to complete the top end of the bag, though the fairway and hybrid won't have the adjustable hosel.

My birthday is in Feb so I can see some new clubs in the bag in 2015 :)

its looks pretty tasty, might have to have a go with that when it comes out.

I can't see it staying in Lukes bag very long, not once TM wave some cash under is nose...again;)

with the politest of respect Luke is hardly going to use a club he doesn't think will give him the maximum advantage without the money being 'significant' and TM aren't going to pay significant money to a Pro who will use a Mizuno head cover!

in exactly the same way as Phil M last year.

But they do though:)

Yep - regardless of money the pros will only use a club they believe works for them.

Donald will only use the Mizuno driver on a regular basis if it's going to give him better results than the SLDR

From what I understand, Mizuno offered Luke the club to trial, he liked it and asked if he could keep it for the 'Players' tournament, so it must be of some use to him.

It will be - no doubt about that . He will continue to look for better results of the tee and will pick the better one not who gives him more money. Currently the Mizuno is what he is liking and is in the bag - that may change within a month

they do what?

they may well pay him reasonable rates; but they won't pay him enough to influence his choice sufficiently to play a lesser club (by his evaluation)

When Donald plays the TM club it is hidden under a Mizuno Tour head cover, seems to suit both TM & Mizuno

It is normal and unremarkable for a staffer to use the staff brand head cover. They all do, unless they have a fun Rory dog head cover./ Tiger used a Nike cover on his Scotty putter for years and previously had a Nike bag without a single Nike club in it.

Mizuno wren't too worried about Luke using a TM driver until the TM drivers started getting noticeable when the white drivers started.

Surely someone should tell Luke that a new shiny won't help. If he wants to get better he needs lessons and practice. If he came on here more often he'd know that. ;) :D

This is a great looking club. The technology sounds interesting too. If I'm not mistaken, you can move the CG forward and back to change the amount of spin.
Yup indeed..

Will be interesting to see what Callaway and TM do to counter it ?

Pretty sure TMs argument will be that the SLDR already counters it as theyve decided "for now" weight forward is "optimal" and their adjustability is more toe to heel rather than front to back. That said expect a few more variations ;)
