Just ordered some Mizuno JPX 800 Irons with 5.5 Rifle shafts after playing around with muscle back clubs for a long time, main question is, is there any huge benefit to playing with muscle back or blades?

Also has anyone had a good experience with these irons, as they seem amazing easy to hit with a nice forged head!

They are easy to hit but with a lovely responsive feel. Not the prettiest Mizuno by a long chalk but if you want more forgiveness than the MP53 and 63 these are the baby's to get. My favourite club I've hit in a long long time followed closely by the I15

I've never known how the top edge of the club can put someone off hitting something well. It has no effect on the club whatsoever, if anything it helps!

Can I ask why do you like your taylormade tp irons?

I never said anything about the top line. Yes it is thicker than the MP series but the JPX800 pro are defintely not in the GI category (in my book at least). They aren't as good looking as the MP series purely because the 800 pro has a deeper cavity pocket. However it is for the forgiveness this gives that I like them. They are similar in a way to the TM TP in looks and performance

I take it you are on about the JPX800 pro version not just the normal JPX800. I hit the JPX800 a few months ago and loved it. Hit it again today at the range to get the whole I need new irons thing out of my system and they felt dead and lifeless and the ball dispersion was dreadful even compared to my S2 max. Its convinced me the only way to go in the future is forged. Will have to try the pro's along with the MP53 and AP2

Sorry Homer I didn't mean for that to look as if it was a rant, it just annoys me to see beginners wanting blades as they "look nice" well you can never see how nice they are when they are in the trees/bunkers etc it makes me laugh when they say they can't improve.

I played with MP57s and though I'd give a jpx800 demo a go, still lovely feel but so much more forgiveness. Can't wait for them to arrive now, I'll actually be confident hitting a 4 iron off the tee! And Stu yes I'm referring to the pros.

Only thing with AP2s is that they are 2 piece forging whereas Mizunos are "grain flow forged"
