Evening, I'm currently playing burners that were brought off the shelf 5 years ago. I'm gradually getting better and hoping to be down to 17 by the end of the year.

I'm looking at getting custom fitted and thinking Mizuno irons. Really like the look of the MP-64s and the JPX 825 Pro's.

What are people's thoughts on the above 2?

Both great irons. The 825's will offer more forgiveness, but don't discount the 64's. I've used them and found them fairly easy to use. More forgiving than they look.

I've only demo'd the 64's at the range but I thought they were great clubs. I found them easy to hit and loved the feedback they gave but in fairness I am keen on Mizunos so my comments will contain some unconscious bias I'm sure. I didn't like the look of the 825's so didn't try them.

I don't really see any point in changing! Though a check-out with Mizuno DNA could well be worthwhile/

Burners are plenty forgiving and could well be well suited for you.

Until there is a reason to 'work' the ball, I see no reason to make life more difficult by playing less forgiving clubs. By all means, practice with a blade to improve you ball striking though!

My advice is don't let people tell you X club is for low handicappers and not to bother trying them, if you strike the ball well you can use any club, just depends how much forgiveness you want.

I was playing Mizuno Mx950 (game improvement) and with a handicap of 21 I invested in Mizuno MP59's, all the sites and shops poo hoo'd the idea of a high handicapper trying a 'low' handicapper club but I got on with them like a house on fire.

Do your research and see what look good in your eyes, go and try them stock shaft and narrow down to the ones you like then start the custom process.

I'd wanted the 59's as soon as they came out, tried the JPX and some others but stuck with my gut and went for the ones I wanted.

Have the 825 pro's, they are great clubs and I love them.

Well worth getting fitted as there are quite a few shaft options as standard.

I find they are quite forgiving when needed but when you catch them they are long, accurate and lovely to hit.

With my old clubs I never liked hitting a 5 iron but now I love my 4 iron and wish I could get a 3, I have never been a big hitter but I am putting my four iron past my friends 3 hybrid.

I have the JPX 825 Pro but changed to PING G25 , I play off 19, and I find the accuracy with the G25 fantastic

I still have the JPX 825 Pro, custom fitted R300 shafts 2 deg up and have considered selling, still like new as only used half a dozen times since new

I've gone from Ping G20's to MP-52's and will never look back. I'm now a Mizuno convert

I had some JPX 820 pros which whilst fine for full iron shots were a little cumbersome for pitches and chippping as i found the faces a bit hot and unpredicatable. I went to MP53 that I loved but changed to Titleist AP2 712 which are the best irons ive ever hit.
Try them all Mizunos make great clubs

Another mizuno fan, love my MP58s though their supposed to be for better players than me, but if a club makes you feel good just picking it up then it's a boost the the important part of the game - between the ears.;)

Well put.

When I got fitted for my MP63's I had a 'secondary' fitting with an MP64.

They are very very nice but I found very little between them and the. Previous MP63 model.

In the end I got the 63's and saved myself circa £200.

JPX are a very good iron too. Especially the pro range.

both good irons

i think the jpx pro is a great combination of classic looks soft feel but still forgiving

mp 64 look amazing feel amazing but they will be slightly harder to hit in the longer irons

if you were to go for them i would suggest having them from 5 iron up and going for the mizuno h4 long iron replacements for the 3-4 irons

+1 here for the JPX825pro.

They are just so forgiving and at least a club maybe 2 longer than the mp 62 i as using last year.

The only downside is they go like rockets off short chips. I used to Use a little dead bump and run with my old MP62 9 iron, the first Itried tha same with the the JPX sent the ball though the back of the green.

A really well packaged club, hard to beat for the bracket its in. I am off to pick up my 4 iron this evening as they are so forgiving I feel its time to be a big boy and get some long irons.

I would say go for the JPX 825's as they will certainly be a good intro to Mizuno. If you do get some I am arranging a golf day at Frilford Heath on 6th April 2014 for fellow Mizuno club players.
