Guys,

is this an AG associated fitting day or a booked time for an hour? the latter is better than the former as more time is spent, the swing DNA is very interesting and offers a few shaft possibilities to try, whilst the fitter (probably a PGA Pro) will advise on the shaft flex, lenght, grip thickness, lie angle etc etc until YOU are happy with the figures on the screen (he will explain them to you)

So, to answer your question, Yes its absolutely worth it to minimise the potential of buying something you just dont get on with. Plus I believe its still FOC with Mizuno and no pressure to buy as the fitters arent on commission.

I had a fitting at AG when the Mizuno guys turned up and found it really worthwhile. The AG guys also spent some time with me to sort out a new driver as well. In total I was there for 2 hours being fitted as was really pleased with my purchases.

How much did you end up spending, if you don't mind me asking jaymbee 1? And what was you ideal club?

Cheers.

if it's at a demo day detailed here

then it'll be one of the Mizuno technical guys who does your fitting. I went to one back in March and the fitter up here, Roland, did a great job and certainly knew his stuff. AG were also offering special prices on the day so it is worth talking to them after the fitting to see what they can offer.

If you go with an idea of what you want to try by way of clubheads, you'll make most of your time.

Hi Marty, I ended up with MP64's with project x 6.5 shafts. 4-pw and 3 additional wedges. I also treated myself to a Titleist d2 driver with project x shaft.:D It was about 1k in total.

Do you have to go in with an idea of certain clubheads you want to try or does the software spit out a few different options once you have your numbers?

The swing dna software will come up with recommended shafts, however, if you have an idea of what heads you're really after then it'll be much easier to get best use of the time. If you want to try everything then there isn't enough time IMO.

That mizuno site is pretty rubbish, but i see they are having a fitting next week near me. I may go along if it gave any details on how to book it would be good. I'll call AG tomorrow.

I have been to demo days at an AG store (Bird Hills) which has a range attached and they are a good way to the latest gear. Fortunately the AG staff left the fitters to do what they are trained to do (wouldn't trust any AG staff after previous issues in several stores).

Yeah I agree homer I'd only go tinder a mizuno staff member.

Could be a good time if year DCB, just before Xmas, plus it keep the stores busy so they'll pick up additional sales from that.

I was fitted at Thorpe Wood AG in Peterborough on their range in the Mizuno DNA fitting bay. Best thing I ever did as I am now hitting my irons far better than I ever have. All the Mizuno stuff in my signature is what I ended up buying. I think the best part of it was getting custom fitted on my wedges rather than getting them off the rack. I would have never got the shafts that I got recommended without seeing all that data on the screen showing they are the best shafts for me. In my previous 2 set of irons I had Rifle 6.0 in one and the last set was TTDG S400.

I know AG get some bad reviews on here and I have too encountered these stores, but the one I went to was fantastic and gave me the best service I have ever recieved. They even let me hit some shots with my driver to see what results I get. The Mizuno fitting computer told me to dump the Aldila NV85 Stiff for a Fubuki 70g X-Stiff. Done it and my driving is so much more accurate.

I think all the manufacturers should adopt the Mizuno DNA system for fitting clubs.

So, I went along to AG in Maidstone today for this. it was good. My appointment was at 1:30 but I was there early and there was an old boy in the net trying out some clubs and every piece of advice he was given he had a reason for. I could tell the Mizuno bloke was getting pee'd off. He gave me a raised eyebrows look too. So when it come to my turn I think he was a bit relieved to rid of the old boy.

I said i was left handed and he said "this'll be fun, don't get many left handers!" He advised me that the left handed range had been reduced down to the new JPX and two from the MP range. I had my Burners with me so he questioned me about my game and what I wanted. He recommended that the JPX prob wasn't the club I was looking for. So we tried to two MP clubs.

He had a trackman plugged in and said I was on bang on the line between needing a reg or stiff. Everywhere I've been before said i'd need stiff so this was a little surprising! His first club to give me was the MP54 with the KBS shaft in reg. Now this was the exact same shaft that the guy at Left Handed Golf told me I need, but in stiff. I must say that it did feel as nice in these as it did there.

He then had me try a project X and dymanic gold shaft both in reg. Now both these shafts didn't feel a good as the KBS. The KBS feels like the ball just flies off the face so much easier than anything else i've hit. It feels like its got an extra kick to it at impact and I can find the sweet spot more often than not. With the other shaft good hits felt fewer between.

So, then i mentioned that I carry a 5 iron but never use it. When I need the distance I usually hit a hard 6i or a soft 4h. He said it was pointless me carrying a club if I don't use it. So he suggested a HIFly in a 5i set up. Same KBS shaft, same shaft length as 5i and same loft. I hit 9 of these shots and he then showed me the stats, so long carry and dispersion was hardly any at all. I hit everyone on nearly the same spot. It was an awesome club!

So at the end of the day he recommended me the MP54 6-PW KBS R shafts, MPT4 wedges with the same shaft and then the HIfly 5i with the KBS.

Now this is where the fitting differed from the Left Handed Golf session. He did then look at the lie and says I need 2 degree up. He did try and explain why but it's a bit lost on me. What does this mean?

Obviously this is where the AG guy steps in to price it all up.

Total price was £799. 92. They offered me £140 for my Burners which I thought was awesome. I nearly bit his hand off for that. If I stuck them on ebay I'd of been happy to let them go for £100.

I did buy wedge recently Mizuno MP R12, a 52 and 56. He offered me £25 for these! 4 months old, £70+ brand new! Er no thanks mate.

So I've come away with the list of whats been suggested and I will do my thinking over the next week or so. If go for the irons and hifly it'll be £530 all in. I'm sure I can save a bit here!

I'm going to the Golf Show next week and want to try a few more makes before making up my mind.
