Looking forward to a Mizzy demo day today.
I've never had any Mizzy irons, but always lust after the sexy looking blades.

Anyone been on a Mizzy day, recommend looking at any particular irons, have any experience of the swing dna shaft fitting device?

I'm mainly going to see what has happened in my swing since recent, significant, swing path changes, and to see if any different shafts (manufacturer, stiffness, etc) should be fitted into my next set, which I intend to get in autumn.

been a few times, DNA is Ok gives you an idea of a few different options. Ive always used S300 but made the switch to KBS Ctaper 120 in my MP4's, a bit higher ball flight but 5 yards further carry.

Try the MP4's they are surprisingly forgiving. didn't like the MP15 didn't feel like a mizuno at all. JPX pro are nice go miles and not that chunky.

Having been sure I was buying Ping irons I tried the MP64s. Best irons I every hit so I bought a set and haven't been disappointed! I don't think these are in the range any more but try and get a look at their upgraded version. I love them.

I don't think they have a new version of the MP64, but I imagine there will be new irons in the autumn that might fill this gap

Just encouraged myself to look at the website, the MP4s are stunning. Next irons maybe.....

Yep they are and are def more forgiving than i expected, scuff up really quickly though, had covers on them for the first few months and they still looked like new. stopped using those once we were into the comps.

Anyone looked at making up combo sets?
Maybe MP54 or MP15 & MP4 from long down to short irons?

Thanks for the input guys - will report back on my findings tomorrow

Go without too many preconceived ideas.

SwingDNA is very useful as a guide to possibly suitable shafts, but it is not a fitting on its own. You could end up with the third suggestion or something not even on the shortlist.

I have MP4s (6 - W) and MPH5 (4 and 5), all with C taper (lite for the H5) shafts. I think they are excellent irons and hittable for a decent handicapper. Te C taper is not everyone's cup of tea but I like it. It wants to go straight and goes quite far too.

I had the covers on mine at first but as the elasticity of them started wearing out I got bored of running back down fairways and soon ended up with more scattered around Kent than in my bag!

I went down yesterday for the demo/fitting and am very pleased to say that the clubs were lovely and the fitter very helpful.

Before I hit any balls we discussed my play and ball flight and the fitter asked if I hit my current clubs quite high (which I do).
I first hit 3 balls with my 6 iron (AP2 710, 2* upright, 1/2 long, S300 shaft), these were lovely shots averaging out at 179 yds, with quite tight dispersion.
From watching this he reckoned on the right shaft for me being the X100.
So I then went onto the fitting club, with the swig DNA device.
3 shots later it recommended: X100, Project X 6.0 & a KBS.
I tried all 3 shafts using the MP-15 (with my current lie/loft - which he agreed upon being correct) and didn't like the Project X as I felt like I had no control over the club head (apparently it's a marmite shaft because it's counter-balanced), the KBS was nice but just didn't seem to suit me (he said it's a shaft for a slightly smoother swing than mine) and so the X100 was the choice on the day. The project X had the best and the worst numbers, the KBS just below that of the X100 and the X100 averaged out at 183yds in a tighter dispersion

So my fitting came out as being: 4-6 MP-15, 7-PW MP-4, 52* & 58* wedges all in X100 and white mc grips with 3 layers of tape.

The numbers on the DNA were: 90 , 4 , 4 , 3 , 5 - if that means anything to any of you.
It flew arrow straight, with a good penetrating ball flight.

So all that is left is to say thanks to Mizuno & Kedleston Park GC for the day.

Next is to try Titleist when they come to Kedleston in a few weeks - to compare and contrast

The numbers are:

Swing speed 6 iron: 90 is pretty quick and would throw up a Stiff flex for a very smooth (low) swing tempo, and Extra stiff at medium or above tempo. You probably get about 105-ish with driver, so probably into X flex there too.

4, 4, 3, 5, respectively are tempo, toe down, kick angle and release factor.

4 tempo is one the smoother side (more Ernie Els than Nick Price (ask your Dad),
4 toe down - this is more to do with lie angle. If your swing caused the tow to move down a lot, then a static fitting might mislead on lie,
3 kick angle - this is to do with forward bend profile and whether you need a shaft with more stiffness in the mid section, and
5 release factor - this is to do with where you release the club, and whether more tip stiffness is needed - Sergio releases very late and needs super stiff tipped shafts.

Enjoy the MP4 and 15s, great clubs.

Thanks,

If I go for them, and I think I probably will - just waiting on the Titleist demo day & a chat with the club pro for his opinion - then I'm sure I will enjoy them. Lovely smooth feel and are very good to look down on.

Oh go on, Mizuno irons and Titleist woods is the way to go.

The Titleist irons are nice, but be aware there is a 716 model now hitting the Tours and likely to be released at the end of the year.

Sounds like my fitting for the MP64s. Came up with 3 shafts and x100 was the one least recommended but feel and results shone through!

Mizuno are the best irons available in my opinion, why delay a couple of weeks! Go on, you know you want to!
