Playing with the wife tomorrow. She plays off 32 Im off 9.
Neither of us have played this format before.
Shes nervous, and tends to be negative about her own game, I dont care too much how we do as long as i can get her to enjoy it and we dont fall out.
Any advice on tactics to save my marriage would be gratefully received. :D

Hi
I personally quite like greensomes, it's a good format if your wife is new to competitions, friendly or otherwise.
I play it with my hubby often, we are lucky in the respect that we compliment each others game (If I have a bad shot hubby has a good one and vice versa, sometimes we both have good shots ;)).
The only advice I can offer is let your wife know that you don't mind how either one of you play as you are there more for the social side of the game, try not to be critical if she duffs a shot and don't offer her advice unless she asks for it.
I have been out with many a couple who have ended up arguing due to advice given :o

Let us know how you get on and GOOD LUCK :)

Solid Advice thanks Barb. I have far too much sense to criticise or offer advice to my missus.
Ill let you know how we get on, but if all goes horribly wrong, will you marry me?

Do not necessary take the longer drive which I assume will be yours. She will probably be more worried about letting you down. Play the drive from the fairway. I play off 13 and played with a scratch golfer in a Comp and we took 5 of my drives The main reason being that he could play the 2nd shot vey well.

It is a great format and enjoy the day

Its a good format and one we'll be playing at members/guest day in a few weeks in the afternoon. Playing with HTL it should be interesting!

The only advice I can suggest is try to reassure the wife that its only a game and that if she makes a mistake its no the end of the wrold. However if you mishit one be prepared to be reminded for the rest of the round - women are fickle creatures like that  :D

Had a fantastic day. Scored 33 points. Winners had 42 so nowhere near the pace but we enjoyed it. (score was as it was cause I played crap not her. She putted really well, i drove like David Blunkett on speed.)
The bad news is we are still married. Sorry Barb, tell your hubby he can unpack.
