I see he's missed at the Irish and his form is poor especially for a golfer who achieved so much a few years back.

Without a win in 3 years, not a huge amount of good showings, the question I ask the forum is will he ever be back in the winning circle again?

In my opinion it's a huge no,the man has the heart of a lion but he is for me up there with Els as being a nice fella whom the press seem to leave alone but in reality his best years are well behind him.I hope I'm wrong but I can't see him doing it and if it wasn't for his great wedge/short game he would be off the radar!

We were having this discussion a while ago in our fourball one Sunday and I was told that I was mental (nice way) for even suggesting it. I have been thinkinlike that since his last major as I don't know what se is left for the man. Thoroughly nice chap though.

I hope not but if so he won't be the first. You mention Els but Ian Baker-Finch and David Duval spring to mind amongst others.

I think it is fascinating, and a reflection of how fickle and difficult this game is, that players who have played well for years and won many events including majors can just lose the ability to play or score well especially in these days of coaches, psychologists, super slo-mo swing analysis and what have you.

Only time will tell. I sincerely hope he wins again as the experiences of people on here show he is an absolute top bloke and it's always good when someone proves that nice guys can be winners too.

Not for me, golf is unlike any other sport I know. Form can change like the wind and it could easily turn around for him. I'm not saying that he will win another major (although you cant rule that out because he's got what it takes), but I'm sure he will win a few more tour events in his time.

I do think he will win on tour again .. major? possible but not so sure . he a strange dude paddy if he just manages to get in right frame of mind hecan win anything .. as for swing changes after winning 3majors .. he wanted a game to contend in all the majors all the time . not just some of the time .. a consistant rather than occasional champion .. mad if you ask me .. his biggest prob at the min is the fairway between his ears

Also Faldo changed his swing after winning majors and went on to win a couple more.

Darren Clarke had been struggling with form for years before he won the Open,so anything is possible.
As somebody else said though, why if your ranked in the Worlds top ten,and have won multiple Majors would you pull your swing apart ?

he wins 3 majors and decides to change his swing!why?
never been the same since

I think you'll get the answer to this myth when you see the interview we did with him in Ireland last week, I won't spoil it by telling you what he said now.

My own personal opinion having met him last week is that there is no way he is spent. He has so much enthusiasm for the game he will have his day again.

It's a fickle game; here today, gone tomorrow.

I don't think it's all over, but I get the feeling he's got a hell of a hill to climb.

He's a tinkerer...Always has been and always will be..He obviously knows that certain parts of his game dont stand up under pressure and i suppose he wants to be totally sure that when the situation calls for a certain shot then he has the ability to be able to hit it.That said the man has a level of self belief that i think can only be equalled by TW himself.

I'm sure that he will win again and give people something to talk about. When? Iv no idea but I would bet that there is a long way to go before the man is spent...

I might be slightly biased seeing as I'm Irish too but any time he comes up over here in conversations I seem to automatically defend him even though I know that the critics are 100% right on the money.

I also think that he should ditch his caddie....There are times when iv seen Paddy overshoot greens and lately come up way short of pins and for me that has to be someones fault.

I think the guy is class and hopefully he'll get it back together. Clarke, and Westwood before have proved that you can slip down th world rankings and have huge career slumps (obviously Clarke and Westwood have different reasons) and still bounce back to the highest levels. I think Harrington is too talented especially around the greens not to get it to click sooner or later

Just watched on Sky this evening the battle in the 2009 WGC at Firestone between PH and Tiger. PH fired in a wedge shot from the rough and it shot passed the hole and spun back to within 5 foot I think. The commentor said that with the new wedge groove rule coming into effect in 2010 he will not be able do that. Now PH is known for his short game and wedge play. Has this ruling had a real bad effect on him???
