Is missing a putt something you think about when playing, I played today and did not putt my best ever and was thinking to myself that I never made any putts but then again I had not missed any either (straight after this thought i missed two......)

For me a miss is anything inside 4-5 feet and then it becomes a good putt for 5-10 foot and after that anything holes is a bonus.

Anyone else think like this

Nope

Distance is almost irrelevant - there are 18" putts that are tougher than 10' ones.

When I miss a putt the only question is did I read it right, did I hit it right?

If 1 factor it in to the reminder of the round; if 2 blame something else that time and do it right next time (book practice session with self....)

A few weeks ago I turned a birdie putt into a three putt from 12 ft on 1st green, I let myself start thinking about missing makeable putts for the rest of the round... and my putting didn't disappoint. Went on to have worst putting day in a very long time and while obviously disappointing I couldn't really be surprised, I got exactly the result I was thinking about

If I want to hole a putt I at least have to think (believe) its going to drop

If you're worrying about missing 4/5 footers you must worry a lot because they certainly aren't gimmes. When I miss a putt I'm more concerned with how I miss. If I hit it at good pace and on the line I picked, it was a good putt and they don't always go in.

I knocked an off green chip 3 feet to the hole by pure luck one night. It's a short par4 so it was a nice drive. Missed the bloody birdie putt because I was already thinking of the next hole thinking the birdie was safe. Felt like a prize goon too because I walked up to the putt saying to myself "Yes a wee back to back birdie" as I birdied the one before it. Also a short par 4.

I don't think about the putt itself. I focus on stroke and read. If these are good then more (not all) putts will drop. As soon as I start to reward myself or worry about consequences of the miss, even before I putt then I'm a goner.
As Br Bob advises...try and stop your mind getting in between you and the putt.

My Melon is a complete mess as soon as I get my putter in my hand out on the course.

Have no faith in my stroke or in my reads, the consequences are a horror show.

Rubbish game is golf!

Saves me typing out exactly the same post

Only had 11 putts on the back nine today so nope don't think I missed many at all.
28 putts all day, no 3 putts and nailed a few from over 20 feet.
