I was considering a mini driver recently, to try a keep my errant tee shots a little less errant. Thing is, everyone has just stopped making them!

Anyone still using one? Were they just a flash in the pan?

Funnily enough, I was just thinking this the other day! You don't see many of them out on the course anymore where I play. 2 or 3 years ago they were all the rage! Admittedly, mine isn't currently in the bag to be fair :)

Tried them.
I didn't get "near driver distance" from them
They were easier to hit than a driver - for me..
Virtually impossible to use from the deck - I found them very one dimensional..
In reality, no more distance than a decent 3 wood.

So I used a 3 wood until I got the Epic, which I seem to have found a way to, mostly, use effectively.

When they brought the mini driver out i couldnt help thinking it wouldnt last as to my mind it was a backward step .a driver with a small head ,yeh that`ll work ,well if it was the way forward why did big headed drivers take over from the original small headed ones ,and are they easier to hit ,well they said they were but if you have just made the sweet spot smaller how is that easier to hit .
well thats my look at mini drivers ,agree or not its up to you.

Instead of buying a mini driver, I just loped 1 3/4 inches off a spare driver shaft. Same length as a mini driver for control, big a*** head for my wonky swing.

Still one in my bag I use on certain holes depending how I'm playing and which tees we are on. Not sure if I should take it out as I barely use it but it's like a security blanket for me 😁

Still have mine in the bag, keep trying new drivers ... in fact found only this week that many of the new ones (admittedly off the shelf) weren't that much different again. Ok with custom fitting it might be different, but at the moment it's much the same.

On course it doesn't get 100% use , as I still hit 3w and hybrid when it's too tight or just not worth the distance.

I'm with the thinking that we take a driver and lop an inch or more off the shaft. Much prefer the bigger head of the driver and reducing the shaft length provides more control for most golfers.

That's what I ended up doing. Lop off an inch and have more control!

I don't use a driver, 3W exclusively off the tee but did have a spell with an SLDR mini. No complaints vs 3W off the tee but off the deck it was redundant so 3W came back. Do like the Bertha mini though....

i had the big berth mini as i couldn't find a driver that i liked but recently sold it as i hated the bloody. While i liked the idea of the smaller head and while i could hit a reasonable distance it just wasn't for me but that might have been the R flex shaft.
i got fitted for the Sub Zero and needed X flex!

I liked my SLDR Mini Driver, but at the end of the day it was just a strong 3w with a bigger head!

Great off the tee for accuracy but in the end it didn't offer too much more than my 4w, which I can hit comfortably off the deck, but I couldn't with the mini driver!
