My course is quite tight and tree lined. Now we're back on the whites there are some holes that from the yellows I often take my X2 Hot 19* hybrid, but, as were now 20 yards further back, and my hybrid goes about 210 yards I'm considering a stronger lofted club that it easy to hit off the tee where I may not want to use the driver, but would like it to be usable on the fairway too

Any thoughts and ideas on the club make / model I should consider

Thanks

I don't have any issues with my SLDR Mini from the deck - but then again it's 16 degrees. ....

Don't think I lose any distance on the average tee shot with it either.

It's easier to hit from the tee than a 3 wood. The 3 wood is easier to get in the air off the deck.

You choose.

That's pretty much what Crossfield and Shields both say, thanks Duncan

Aero burner HL 3 wood

The mini drivers look too cumbersome for use off the floor to my eye....
I'm sure they're fine off the tee - although Fragger still has one and still needs to practice with it - but must be trickier from the turf.
Is an ordinary 3 wood that hard to hit off a tee? I get good distance with mine and I can use it easily from the deck too...
Get yourself the XR 3 wood!

Had a look at the SLDR mini driver yesterday. 12 degrees but struggled off the deck. Was good off the tee though and only 20 yards or so behind my Ping. My partner (who owned it) kept getting it out past me. Git

Aero burner HL 3 wood

Certainly one that I may look at

Still £170 Ian but I might take one out from our pro shop

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between a mini driver (Not the actress) and a 3 wood of equivalent loft?

Genuine question as I've never been interested in a mini driver (that includes the actress :) )

Bigger head
Not as big as a driver but half as big again as a standard 3 wood.
Personally, I get enough distance from a 3 wood, more from the driver so can't see that something in the middle is going to be of any use to me.

Bigger head, deeper face and longer shaft.

Same here until yesterday, a PP (off 6) was superb off the tee and on a couple of holes absolutely spanked his 3 wood off the deck, he then used the 3 wood off the 14th and it was a cracker, distance/shape etc, as we walked up the fairway I asked why he hadn't used his driver as he had been hitting it so well, it was at this point he showed me his mini driver and that's what he been using, he doesn't carry a Driver or 3 Wood, i genuinely hadn't realised, but if that's how some can use them then what a club, really impressed, never seen anyone use one before.

Thanks for the clarification guys

Personally I would opt for the 3 wood.

From the description of the mini driver they don't sound like they'd be easy to hit of the deck.

3 wood seems a more versatile club.

Yep I've had both. The mini was ok. But not versatile enough. Not as long as a driver, not as useful as a 3 wood. If you find the right 3 wood it's redundant.

Had a friend that got the areo tm if I remember right. Never got on with this 3 wood and we have a 200 yard par3 so he got it mainly for that and have a few rounds he's getting on well with it. My take time to get to it tho would be worth a shout if the 3 woods and u don't get on

Or if you spray the driver like Phil then might be worth a go

I don't tend to spray the driver too much but there are a few holes that care off the tee pays dividends.

The Aero Burner is getting a few thumbs up so I might try it if I can find one
