Hi anyone played Milngavie recently?. My mate is thinking of joining and we were going to check it before the turn of the year.

I played there a few months ago in a open and it was in good condition, as most courses were this year . A bit on the short side with a couple of quirky holes, quite friendly so give it a chance .
Where does your mate stay , as there's a few good courses around that area.

Played it around this time last year and was impressed. It was on my short-list when looking to change clubs and only narrowly beaten into second place. Good layout with an interesting mix of holes. Given that it was the end of the season and with a wet summer, the course was still in great nick and well presented.

Great feeling of being isolated from the outside world whilst on this course; this includes the very nice clubhouse, you have to drive through a fair chunk of golf course to reach it.

I seem to remember the subs were very reasonable and there is no joining fee.

It goes without saying that being W of S parkland it can suffer in the wet at times but does fair better in this regard than other courses in the area I have played.

Only other drawback I can see is that if travelling from Renfrewshire you would have the chaos of the Erskine Bridge roadworks until next June.

Bearsden.

We are both fairly new to golf but have played Bearsden, Clober and Windyhills so far

My choice would be Haystons gc. they have best greens in the area IMO.
Bishopbriggs , Kirkintilloch or if your a masochist try Dougalston. Do you not fancy Bearsden gc.
