It will come as no surprise to some of you on here that, recently, I was a bit of a wally! I saw the FJ rain glove thread and, before reading it in it's entirety, flashed off an e-mail to Mike with my details as requested. I then proceeded to read the thread and realised that all 25 spaces had been taken up in about 0.5 of a nanosecond! So, I mailed Mike again to apologise for my wallyness. Mike, very kindly, responded and we had a quick chat about my Wilson FG Tour irons. For those that don't know, in October 2010 I was lucky enough to be selected by Mike to go to The London Club and be fitted for these irons by the Wilson Tour truck. One further bonus about the day was that I got to meet Padraig Harrington - a none too shoddy prize!
Anyway, I said to Mike that the clubs were very much still in the bag and that they'd got my handicap down from 10.4 to 7.5. Unbeknownst to me, Mike forwarded this feedback to the guys at Wilson Staff. Today, I had the very pleasant surprise to receive in the post, three Wilson Staff FG Tour gloves from the guys at Wilson!!! The timing of that couldn't be better as my current glove is looking rather ropey.....

What can I say? A wonderful gesture from a great man and further evidence, if needed, that this forum is the best around by a country mile!

Many thanks Mike and the guys at Wilson Staff.

AW

So, to get some free gloves then I have to pursuade Mike to pick me for a fitting day, should be simple enough!

Yeah, its an easy route to a few gloves Chris.

Well done to Wilson (and Mike) always nice to hear of them actually reading things like that.

Mike Harris, Gent and a legend. Its that Jezz Elwood you have to watch out for :D

It must just be the Irish that Jezz can't stand Brendy. I just got an email from Jezz saying that he's putting £300 behind the bar at Machrihanish for us to enjoy ourselves and how much he's looking forward to the trip. I also agree about Mike as Jezz says that the £300 is going back to Mike as "expenses" which Mike has pre authorised!

How cool is that???

Jezz Ellwood... expenses... I didnt think the in-joke had got out of the GM office but apparently so!

On a more serious note, Dave and others thanks for your kind words. All the credit really goes to Wilson for taking a little opportunity to spread a bit of love

Somewhere in that reply there is a story!!!

Do share with the forum, we won't tell, honestly!

Totally agree with what the others have said, Mike is a class guy, i was really looked after at TM last year and meeting Paul McGinley was the icing on the cake.

Keep up the good work GM.

Also Mike the R11 is going great guns again, cheers

Top man, is there any truth in the rumour that it was donated by Kiwi Polish?

;)

Glad to hear mate! But I can't help but think you're just saying that for the free gloves? ;)

I feel a bit bad for getting rid of mine, since it was such a great experience, but I'm glad I can give someone else the chance of a new shiney (whitey?) for gratis.

Not me mate ,don't wear a glove, new wedges now we're gas cooking ,lol

Have to agree with the general Mike H/GM love in. He has witnessed me play my worst ever golf (The Belfry) and was nothing but encouraging, and some of my better golf at the superb Rory Underwood charity day which was a day that I will not forget (and may look to enter my own team this year as is local and a great cause). Perhaps if the GM staff were not such good company I may have drunk less the night before the Forest of Arden final and performed better but still, it was a good laugh.

Having met Mike for the 1st time at the FoA finals i must say it was a pleasure to have a beer & a chat in his company , (& i dont even wear a glove :)).. A true gent and a good time was had .. Mike & Jezz were brilliant to us there & made it a very memorable occasion..

On a small side note if on a GM outing you get a chance to have a beer & a chat with GM photographer Kevin Murray its a must , such an interesting & nice man and some of the photos of golf courses he has .. wow.
