Not rubbing it in guys, but as previously stated, I'm sitting enjoying the golf on sky.
Some great golf being played. However, there's the usual brainless yanks following Mickelson who feel it necessary to scream "Geddinthehole!" with many of his shots and putts.

Even Butch Harmon (who is commentating for Sky) has commented why these idiots feel the need to shout out.

Basher clearly has a problem with our transatlantic cousins. I don't. I played a lot of golf with an American group in the Gulf. Splendid bunch of guys. I miss them. Basher, take your prejudices and stick them where the sun doesn't shine.

Whoa, whoa there, steady on old chap.

Who's poked you in the eye Shanker?

I do NOT have a problem with Americans per say. All I stated was the few loud mouths who feel it necessary to scream and shout at golf shots. As has been reported on this forum before, they've even screamed "geddithehole" on par 5 tee shots.

Wind your neck in Shanker, I've nothing against Americans and never stated I had.

Basher.
I'm not looking for an argument but you seem to have something against our American friends. You have made posts which suggest that you are a little anti-American. Let's not fall out.
Regards

I don't wish to fall out with anyone mate, least not yourself. I've been lucky enough to get on with everybody on here.

As I said on my previous post, I have nothing against Americans whatsoever. It just gets my goat when individuals or groups of them feel the need to scream at almost every shot.

I take it we're still friends then! :D

I dont like American Golf fans, they scream good shot, woo hoo, Yaba daba doo regardless of the quality of the shot, not saying they are all like this but they are bloody annoying!

Loved Peter Aliss comment during the Open when some yank screamed get in the hole "shut up you fool!"

I'm with HTL and Basher on this. Whilst its a very small minority of yank fans that make these outbursts it absolutely does my head in.

I've mentioned it before, i'd love a golfer or caddy to slap the next person that does it.

the point is a valid one. why shout on the tee when the ball is unlikly to even be on the dance floor, but fair call if its approaching the hole with half a chance of dropping. nothing wrong with encouragement.

Personally I hate to hear it, it never seems to sound like keen golf fans encouraging a player but more like a bunch of drunks who turned up under invitation at an event they neither understand or support. I also think its about time that the pro's openly condem it. How long will it be before this kind of unnecessary rowdyness becomes yobbish. It never used to happen but it does now so what is the next stage?????

Shanker is a ....... I mean...he's clearly had a bad day or summat....??

I agree entirely about the mindless eejits that shout out, it drives me nuts, and the players too i beleive.
Its why they most of them like coming to Europe, as the crowds for the most part are just a tad more 'educated' and mature.

I dont have anything against the americans, and I have spent a lot of time over there over the years, but the place does do your head in after a while, - they are just a tad naieve and insular.

Is it Steve Williams that's Tigers caddy? Occasionally out-spoken etc. Now he's the man to go and *** one of the crowd. Now that would be worth watching. ;)
Oh please, if Sky could guarantee that I would definitely subscribe (even if my decoder breaks again one day after deciding not to take up the extended warranty)
