I couldn't see this posted anywhere else... apologies if it has been.

Not even talking about the shot he played in the play-off which was in itself superb, but every time I see PM play a ridiculous short game shot I think it can't get any better and I'll not be surprised by anything he does any more.

Then he goes and does this. Uphill to the green, green running away, no green to work with, off a baked tight lie! I'd imagine most players would play something lower and settle for a long putt.

his video shows how he does this shot, it must be a tight lie as anything fluffy just makes the head go under it. He actually attacks the ground before the ball and plays it like a bunker shot, takes lots of practice and big cahonies and has stunning results if/when it comes off...

I love the way he goes right underneath the ball in the Lesson vid as casually as you like - the ball actually sits further down!

I'm happy to try this with my PW but am very wary about trying with a 52* or 56* wedge as they seem to have too much bounce. With my PW I feel I can really open the face and cut under the ball.

[EDIT] Ah! Just watched the video from the Scottish. He has 'no' bounce on the wedge he uses - that explains it!

I watched him hit that live, I don't think anyone else in world golf would have or should have att that shot.

You can't putt it up fue to those reveted eyes on the side and if you did the pace you would need to get it up would make the ball run though the green with the flag there anyway.

Remarkable shot, what about the flop off the green on the 8th.... ?

Where does this leave the Links experts and their dismissal of the "fancy dan" lob wedge!!?? ;)

Must be in a cold sweat!!!!!!!! haha :)

A decent flop shot is one of the very few shots I have in my locker, and I'm always confident in trying it. But that was something else, massive cajones to try it, masterful technique to pull it off.

I for one have never dismissed it - but I wouldn't play it if there was nothing between me and the green. Just so happens that as I only had a 46*PW I had to learn how to open the clubface up and cut it up into the air to clear any obstacle in my around the green - usually bunkers.

I would absolutely love to see 100 forumers take on that shot  Would be great fun.

How many do we reckon would be wet? I will go for about 94 out of 100 :D

Interesting the commentator sayinghe had no bounce on the wedge when in the other clip, Phil says he needs bounce to play the shot. Just goes to show what the "experts" know
