Some weeks ago, got a few mice who made a nest in the house. Tried a few things, but Hacker Khan wins the price for suggesting Raco Paste, which has got the better of them. Two of them died in the open, but I think 1 or 2 died under the floorboards esp under the downstairs cloakroom.
The cloakroom is starting to smell and as it has a tiled floor, cant get under it. Cant lift any of our downstairs floorboard without damaging the flooring. Smell has just started, but I am sure it will peak in time of Christmas..

Any suggestion on how to get rid of the smell? How long does it take to go away if we cant get rid of it?

Apart from removing the offending creature, you're going to struggle a bit. We've just had rats and one of them died under the bathroom floor , but I could get the floorboards up and I removed a 5inch rat, don't know how something so small could create so a stench.

All I did was to spray bleach around where the rodent had died, bleached the floor and open the windows to get a bit of blow through.

Prior to removing the rat we had some of those plugin air fresheners, scented candles etc on, it did mask the smell a bit but not that much.

It'll pong for about a week, and you'll have a lovely supply of flies as well.

Just try to ventilate the room as much as possible, closing the door will only concentrate the stench and that is not good, maybe try joss sticks, or incense cones, but mostly all the fresheners you try will mask the smell but not remove it.

Excellent, what exactly was the prize? ;)

I've been lucky in that the rats and mice in our loft seemed to have been decent enough to go and die somewhere else.

Bring to the boil some Brussel Sprouts.

A couple of dead mice should not smell much, especially under a tiled floor.
Are you sure it is not their bigger cousins.

Assume they are the small ones, cos I saw the other two.... must be family. I suspect they were multiplying under the floorboards and might have had tiny ones too... So in total expecting 1 adult + 1-2 tiny ones.

Santa says, the prize will a cut in handicap next year.. (provided you behave)
