This guy should be sacked...right now. He's only 30 months too late.

Mr King told the Daily Telegraph banks were focusing on short-term profits at the expense of their customers.

Mr King said over the past two decades too many people in financial services had thought "if it's possible to make money out of gullible or unsuspecting customers, that's perfectly acceptable".

He said: "Why do banks in general want to pay bonuses? It's because they live in a 'too big to fail' world in which the state will bail them out on the downside."

It's not the 1st of April is it. What a total tool.

It's the banker's culture, Harv.

I was working in the pub the other day and two of the regular banker customers (RBS) were bemoaning the fact that they were only getting a 0.5% pay rise this year. I felt like jumping across the bar and bludgeoning them both to death with their wallets.

At least they still have the same jobs, haven't lost a fortune and will no doubt be getting another pay rise next year, unlike yours truly.

They live on a different planet. Tubes, every one. Clueless to the plight of others.

Whilst I am sympathetic to those that have not been as fortunate as myself, surely you can see their point a little bit?

They got a pay rise less than the rate of inflation which is effectively a cut. A crap situation, from the sounds of it, you yourself have been in a worse situation, but surely you can see that they have some cause for a moan?

The official unemployment figure has "only" risen by about 1.5 million in the last 3 years. Given a population of about 60 million in the UK, I would say the majority of people are in the same situation as the bankers you mention.

No doubt also there are some people in Libya right now who think we "live in another world".
