Looking for advice on men's invitation day. At your club or days you have been invited too. 1) 18/27? Cost of day? Thanks in advance

Never really seen a set format. Been invited to Parkstone a few times and that is 18 foursomes, lunch then 18 betterball. As for cost, depends on the host. If I invite someone then I would expect to pay but I would imagine somewhere around £50-£75 per pair would be typical at a nice club. Some clubs are just a straight 18 hole event, usually betterball.

Ours is 18 holes - full breakfast , carvery £60 a pair

The one I play at Woburn is 27 holes - full breakfast - 18 holes on Marquess then carvery then 9 holes on Duchess -£90 a pair

We have 2 shotgun starts so 2 comps and you can enter either the morning or afternoon comp. Pairs better ball stapleford followed by a carvery. Think it is about £35.00 a pair.

The reason I ask is our club Hever Castle want £200 for 1 member 3 guest for bacon roll, sandwiches for lunch and carvery for dinner. Is that an OK price?

Only thing we have is a Members and Guest day. which is mostly just for our Oversea's members and they bring a guest with them, its £150 for two rounds and a black tie dinner.

Does seem a bit on the expensive side

I think he means for the fourball Phil. :mmm:

£50 pp seems ok for bap, sandwiches and dinner, between what is probably 2 rounds of 18. Maybe the OP can confirm.

Even for a fourball that's a bit expensive.

What's the green fee there ?

For me our Invitation 4BBB has been too expensive. Think it was maybe £60 a pair last year - to include pre-presentation dinner. Was £75 a couple of years back including lunch or breakfast - whatevr,,,

If - as at out place - members don't get any 'free guest rounds' I think the invitation should be a way a member can bring on a guest for a nominal charge. Food etc can be pre-ordered and charged separately. Play 36 holes. Get visitors on our course and into the clubhouse - let's show our course and club off. We are proud of it.

As a plus one or two may become members; come back to pay a green fee with their friends; or talk about the place to others and recommend it. Make it a fun day for our guests and visitors; lots of other little comps; fun for kids and partners; get the club really busy and buzzing. But don't make it a big 'set piece' formal occasion with dinner etc. That's what it has been and last years had to be cancelled through lack of interest. Clearly the format is wrong so let's be radical. I'd charge no more than £20 entry a pair.

In my eyes the Invitation 4BBB should be the main 'show the club off/get us known out there' event of the year.

18 hole Shotgun start at my place. 4BBB followed by a two course lunch.

Entry fee is £20 per pair all of which is donated to the Captain's charity
Lunch is £15 a head and is optional (but delicious so you'd be mad to decline)

I usually pay for my guest since the cost is modest.

£35 a pair shotgun start two course meal and presentation with good prizes after. I think your club are going a bit over the top. My guest comes free just has to buy me a beer. Puts you in an arkward situation really at £200 a pop.

No food with entry at ours, but the guest fee is just the £5 comp fee the same as for the members to cover prizes.

Same as..

I can't believe some of the prices being mentioned,do the Startsheets fill up?

Ive always viewed it as a members opportunity 3 times a year to take a guest round the course on a Comp' day at a reasonable price.
