I'm moving to leeds in the next year and was wanting some advice on clubs around the city. I'm looking at moving to Gildersome or south milford so opposite sides of the city :) I'd have around £1000 p/a budget as well

Thanks

I play at oulton hall and full membership is £87 a month.Never shuts no winter tee's or green's.Very relaxed as its a resort course.

Moor Allerton is very nice, different course options there as well. Some cracking courses around there so you will have some nice choices available to you.

If you move to Gildersome then the best course in that area is Howley hall. There is a joining fee of £600 but it is payable over 3 years. I was a member of Oulton Hall and wouldn't advise anyone to join there. They (almost) never answer the phone for bookings, visitors always come before members, The course really suffers because of all the visitors and winter golf and a round will never take less than four hours. The midweek comps will be cancelled if there is a visiting party and even if they go ahead it will take a month or so so get the results.

+1 for Moor Allerton. It's a great set up! Not sure about how easy membership is, but Alwoodly and Moortown are stunners!

Totally agree, you've also got Sand Moor in there too, but all these I would imagine would be well over the grand. I just recently played Scarcroft next to Allerton and was impressed with the layout, the clubhouse is a little old fashioned and looks run down but I heard it's about a grand a year.

Scarthingwell will certainly come in well below the grand mark and it's not a bad little course, very friendly and with no joining fee worth a look. It's certainly not in the same league as moor allerton, scarcroft etc but not a bad track either if it's south Milford you end up at but probably too far from gildersome. Have a look at cleckheaton which is next junction along m62 from gildersome I used to be a member there and can certainly recommend it.

Moor Allerton is a great course and you have 3 loops of 9, Wike Ridge is close by aswell as Scarcroft, Sand Moor and Howley Hall. Cleckheaton is supposed to be very good too. I wasn't impressed with Oulton to be honest and the clubhouse is pretty expensive, hotel prices. Loads to choose from.
