It looks like our club is going to put together a members website. Separate to the main website, run by and for the members with nothing from the club or managing company.

Do any of you have a members website & if so, what's on it? We have identified one which has a LOT of content on it, whilst thats great for the initial building of the site, most of the content on there is 1 year old!

Anything you'd like to see on your members site? Anything on your members site which you hate? Any info would be great!

Don't really understand the need for separation?

We have a members area on the club website that, after logging in, you have access to comp calendars, results, tee bookings, any communications from the club, meeting minutes etc etc.

Not entirely sure what else you'd need and why you want any club information on a different website?

Same here everything you would need is on our Members section of the website, even how much you have spent on you bar card

As our course is run by a company (BGL) I'm not sure how easy the access and personalisation of the website is. It's aimed at the pay & play customer, not the members etc.

The idea is to have pages about the annual comps, comp results, charity info, events, all that jazz. I'm not sure the current BGL run site can do that. Anyway, I'm not on the committee or anything, just trying to get some ideas.

We do have a members area on the official club website for results, entry lists, photos etc. There are also a few privately run social media websites: a facebook page, a blog, even a YouTube channel. They were all created by the same guy (proud father of one of our better young players and by now also the guy who runs our pro shop and is administrator for the official website), but there is very little new content on them and no way for the other members to post anything there. Looks more like a private initative to give the club a fresher, slightly more modern presence on the web which was then abandoned. It is a bit pathetic, actually, because so far he has not even managed to upload the comp schedule for this year to the official site, even though competitions are starting this month, let alone keeping up with all the other "private" sites he has created. To his credit, he is also the guy who takes pictures at most events and those he normally uploads promptly to the member's area.

I would want the same sort of things that are provided through the member section of intelligent Golf.

Things like competition Results, Diary, Club Results from matches, an up to date tracker for the club KOs (we shouldnt have to look at a notice board to see who we are playing in this day and age)

Not really sure what it will bring, certainly if I take the current members section of my clubs website. It gives me all the information I need and I don't know what members hosting a members site will bring. Of course if it works and gets used regularly (the most important thing) then all well and good

I'd want to see stuff that I'd usually have to go to the club to find out. Who have I drawn in the next round is always useful. Can't always get down to check the noticeboard and like to make contact to arrange as soon as the draw is done.

We have a completely separate one which just ends in .co.uk rather than .com and its main feature is just a site with pictures of the members which helps put faces to names when you see them in the knockouts or draw sheets. Doesn't really achieve much otherwise and can't think the owners are too happy about the conflicting domain name. It also links to another horrid clip art masterpiece of a website that has the info/results of the biggest swindle.

Normal comp information and things are within a members section on the main website
