Afternoon all

I'm delighted to announce that Golf Monthly have joined forces with TaylorMade adidas Golf to sign Sam Hutsby who tuned pro this week after representing GB&I at the Walker Cup last week.

Sam will be Golf Monthly's touring professional and joins playing editor David Howell and regular columnist Graeme McDowell, as our men inside the ropes on Tour.

Sam made his professional debut this week in Kazakstahan on the Challenge Tour and although he just missed the cut (his clubs being sent to Moscow by accident and only arriving 90 minutes before his 1st round tee time didn't help!) his second round of 71 was very encouraging.

He is due to play some full European Tour events during the remainder of 2009 and his TaylorMade staff bag will carry the Golf Monthly logo.

Golf Monthly will follow Sam in his first year as a touring professional and giving a unique insight into what life on Tour is like.

I hope everyone joins me in wishing Sam good luck for his future career

Good to see GM working with this young man as he starts out on what hopefully will be a sucessfull career.

All the best Sam, stick with it and give it your best, that's all that can be asked of you. :D

Well done, I will follow his career with a sense that he is somehow 'one of us'(albeit infinitely more talented). Maybe he can get involved in the forum??

That would bring the standard of golf on the Forum down :D :D.

Seriously ,its great to see GM giving a young guy sponsorship at the start of his career ,as it its harder to get in this current climate, well done.

Good luck to the young 'flatbelly' :)

I hope the weight of our expectation doesn't weigh to heavily on him.

I mean, there's no rush for his first tournamant win, next month will be fine.

Great stuff, it will be good to track the young man's progress. I wonder if we will ever get to see him out on the course with Graham Mcdowell?. That could lead to an interesting match report.
