In for a medal on Sunday AM, trouble is I have a late night do on Saturday and bearing in mind I haven't put in a card or visited a course since 15th September I think I'll be wasting my time.
Weather forecast is ok but I cant seem to get any competitive drive or enthusiasm going, feel like the season's really over, greens have been cored etc and it's a shoe in 0.1 coming up.
How do I get up for this medal or should I withdraw and put the feet up?

Hangover golf is a thing of beauty, get there 5 mins early, only long enough to get your card and 2-3 bottles of sugary coke/pepsi (a kitkat might help later), dont practice anything and only take one practice swipe on the 1st tee. All will be great for around 14 holes, then you need to start concentrating, I predict a top 10 finish if you follow these simple tried and tested rules.

Go for it. I'd like to know the effects of the wrist strengthening exercises you promised to do. How are they going?

The key to successful hungover golf is to hit as many greens as possible in reg. I find those little feel shots tough when I'm a bit fuzzy of head.

Alternatively, you could just lie in and then get stuck into watching the rugby WC all day. That's what I'll be doing.

Hangover golf is great, you have nothing to lose.

If you play well, you think "if i can play like that when feeling so bad, what can i play like when feeling good" or, if you play like you never lifted a club before you walk off the 18th thinking "well, i was feeling like **** and never really expected to score well".

So, I say go for it, you have nothing to lose and a lot of PMA to gain.

C'mon gents I had no intention of getting drunk, it's a formal dance I have to attend (not out of choice!).
Cosworth I dont know where the name medal came from but at most clubs there is a medal (18 hole strokeplay competition) once per month i.e May medal, June medal etc. We have a sweep where there is cash for best net score and most number of 2's.
Dave 3498 - the gripmaster has definitely made forearms and wrists stronger, I would recommend it, feel I have more control over the clubhead than I did.
Thanks people some good words of encouragement nonetheless.

Did get drunk, lasted until 8th green, miles over par, Nancy Reagan'd and went home for a fry up!
Clubs away until April!

Can't play after a night on the beers myself, all co-ordination goes out of the window.

Club's away till April Birdieman ?? I'd have thought an enthusiast like you would revel on in the challenge of frosty mornings and Winter golf.

cmon Birdie get on with it and stop being soft, youll be fine after the 4th,just stick in till then !
Belgie must suffer from a different kind of hangover from the ones I get! I find I'm fine till about the 12th or 13th and then it kicks in. Throbbing head, thirst, crap golf. You know the rest.

I take the points made by Finch and Findlay. It's great that you aren't charged to watch the Dunhill and I didn't realise that shuttle buses were available to move you from course to course. Still think, however, that it's better to have all the stars on the same course at the same time. And I still have no interest in watching rich guys who play crap golf.

clubs away until april? I'm, amazed.
Get out there. winter golf is .... better than nothing!

OK I expect they will see the light before April, depends on what kind of winter we get, I am well inland and well above sea-level here so have a much shorter season than you lowlanders. Better than nothing? - there are lots of other things to do than golf - ok not many but mountain biking's not bad?
Golf enthusiasm has gone, looking for other things to do these autumn weekends. Handicap started this season at 5.1 and finished at 5.0 so not a lot of progress made this year.

Every year at this time I get fed up with golf, normally by January I'm getting enthusiastic again. Bored with playing the same old track over and over, hopefully can move jobs and find a new course somewhere else maybe.
