A bit of a self praise here but finally got the monkey off my back. I've never enjoyed medals and almost garunteed my self a .1 before I even tee off. This Saturday without realising I finally got over my voodoo.
I had a poor front 9 but would of still been just about buffer with a good back 9. I pegged up on 10 and just played the remaining of the round without thinking about the round. It wasn't until I putted out on 18 my partner said I just shot a net 69 (par 72). To which I said wasnt possible I might scrape buffer after my front 9 and early doubles on the back and he started laughing as I genuinely didn't realise the type of back 9 I just played.
Even with two doubles I managed a +6 gross back 9. So back down to 20 from 22 and back on target for my handicap goal this year. I think what was good is after an average start I wasn't worrying about my score which I tend to do if I get off to a flyer, my partner also didn't tell me how I was playing or mention it as he knows I get my self in a right mess when thinking about my score.
Another medal this weekend and I'm almost looking forward to it just hoping it wasn't a fluke.

Well played. Two shots less to play with of course but I hope lightening can strike twice and you can repeat it next time out

Cheers homer. I was off 20 until about September last year so have been there before. My aim this season was to get to 17/18 which with some steady golf I should be able to do. I feel I've got the ability it's course management is my killer.

Big up respect to you and your partner for not opening his cakehole. Thing is re medals Even if you shoot a 12 on one hole, you can still get a hcap cut as it will not be counted as that. But it is sometimes hard to get that bad hole outta your head.

got my medal later this morning

Well played Connor. I live in hope of putting a decent score in for a comp - four comps so far and I'm still waiting.
