They are trying to get their clubs onto the European tour and sign a few tour players going by their site.
I cant wait to see how well they do considering how well known they are already without mainstream tour players showing their wares. About time they got some proper advertising though, 10 years into the business and going strong. Good luck to them I say and hope this year is their best yet.

OK i suppose they tested the water bring seve on board which is no bad thing

Hopefully wont bring prices up

I love this brand becauseof the quality of their gear and price point. I also think that the ND putters and ND/superstrong wedges are true quality; also the first 2 or 3 sets of forged superstrong irons were top quality clubs at a brillinat price. Shame that the superstrong irons these days are big clunky callaway and nike wannabes , as they really used to be loveley irons

Ye, I wonder if they are looking to put prices up, I guess its the logical next step. I like them because they are budget but still top of the line in perfomace.

Good luck to them and time will tell...

Got an MD F3 wood coming to me this week Jon (or the equivalent 2010-2011 model) ordered last week and cant wait. I have 3 MD wedges in the bag too and love each of them. The 50 degree Norman Drew is such a nice club to hit into the green.

being new to golf I was nearly suckered in by the known brands, eventually a mate who plays off 7 recommended MD so i got a set of md tour steel off ebay, ust shafts, golf pride grips and sweet as to use. would deffo buy more from them just hope they maintain their stance of quality at a very good price

I have the MD F3 wood also and I cant fault it. I've have 2 Superstrong wedges too but I'm thinking about maybe trying out one of the Norman Drew range.

I like the brand and clearly they need to move forward to survive but surely they are building a following based on top quality gear at competitive prices. If they start signing tour players, even though I don't see them being the top dogs, then surely it is a big outlay that will only be recouped by higher prices. Once that starts to happen what is there to distinguish them from any other of the main players in the already cut throat market

Agreed.
They're attractiveness is built on quality at the right (low)price.
But start signing Tour players - even lower ranked guys like - for instance - Howeller or Dougherty - is going to cost serious money. There would be little point in signing a player that nobody has heard of or is not likely to be heard of. That's not going to sell clubs. They need a name or two and they don't come cheap. That cost has to be met from somewhere.

Even with the Seve range I felt that MD were starting to price themselves out of their market. They produce wonderful kit at the right price but if the price goes up to pay tour pros then I feel that they will not have the same shelf appeal as the current big names.

I prefer the Benross approach, put they money into kids and up and coming young golfers if you want to put something back into the sport. To be honest, I prefer Benross clubs as well.

To be honest their clubs are billy bargains at the moment, as long as they are always cheaper than titleist, cleveland, ping and mizuno they will be onto a winner.

MD, had one of the Irish pro's signed up and using their bats on tour a few years back.

As much as I love my MPT-11's, I would have happily bought a set of Norman Drew MD wedges.

The only reason I didn't was that I had nearly £160 of credit in various different forms that had to be used in AG.

That said, the MPT-11's are awesome!

Good luck to MD. They're a great company and their clubs are awesome.

I'd say as the bigger companies cut there budgets for players they may pick up a couple of up and coming players or guys who are middle rank on the european tour for not too much cash. Don't think they are silly enough to try and compeat price wise with the big boys but will look at guys who will be in with a chance to win a couple of times a year.
Mike

It will be interesting to see who they sign. Unless the company has funding to support a global presence on the tour they should start small by signing up and coming tour pro's.

Pricing wise they should stick to their fundamentals which has brought the company the success to-date. If they hike up the pricing to compete with the global brands the vast majority of people will still choose, Titleist, TM, Ping, Mizuno, Nike etc over MD
