Morning All,
I was just wondering if the fine edge to these wedges would mean they are aimed at hard or dry courses which in turn would make them not as useful in wet condictions and seem pointless over here.

Norman felt that the majority of modern wedges feature lots of bounce and this makes it difficult to 'nip' the ball off the surface, especially off tighter lies and in particular with harder ground conditions .

loft 48 Standard bounce 3 NV Drew 1.5
loft 50 Standard bounce 4 NV Drew 2
loft 52 Standard bounce 6 NV Drew 3
loft 54 Standard bounce 6 NV Drew 3
loft 56 Standard bounce 10 NV Drew 5
loft 58 Standard bounce 9 NV Drew 4.5
loft 60 Standard bounce 8 NV Drew 4

I was thinking of getting a 50* & 58* but if the soles are to narrow for wet condictions it would put me or the user at a disadvantage over clubs of a normal say 56* 10* bounce rather than the 5* bounce?

I might be totally wrong but just wondering and asking for some advice?

The ND are no good to me as I always hit the ball a bit fat, thus I need the bounce. I tried the ND and the standars super strong - even on a hard course the standard superstrong suited me better.

My pro recomended the standard wedge and she was right. All depends on the course and the way you hit the ball.

Yeah I guess, I just ordered some Cobra FP's and the gap between PW & SW is 10* (44.5* & 54.5*) and my current GW is 52* and ideally I need a 50* and was tinkering with the idea of getting the Cobra FP GW to match my new ;) set but with just spending HID wouldnt be to happy and a under the radar is needed.

Yea they are standard bounce.

Thanks Jon, I will give them a try as I had more success with my MX wedges than the Srixon WG one, worst case is I buy new wedges. I need a 58* so see what santa brings and if I get some joy I will change the rest over time.

I have low bounce wedges, especially my 58°.

I am considering putting my vokeys back in the bag for the winter, as low bounce clubs are definately harder to hit out of soggy lies, but I guess you can just get used to it. My 54° is ok for full shots, but I would not hit the 58° on the full. Too easy to fat.

However, the low bounce 58° is quite good out of rain battered sand, as with compacted sand you need less bounce. When they rake the bunkers, then you need more, so carry two?

Not sure where to go now.

Might ditch the 3w, as now I know how short I am off the tee, I can't see a use for it, and put a sandwedge back in the bag.

I have a selection of wedges. An old Mizuno (c.1993) SW, a newish TM Satin 52* and a pair of Cally B_B Tour wedges from late 90's in 52* and 60*
They all have a pretty tight leading edge, so I'm guessing none have too much bounce.
I reckon a lot depends on your style....if you have high bounce wedges and have your hands well forward, the bounce is negated (is that the word?) by your technique. My SW is great design and mostly I hit it well, the only downside is that in the event of hitting it heavy it digs in horribly whereas more bounce might be less disastrous.
Horses for courses....can't see anything wrong with the MD school of thought, I reckon some modern wedges have way too much bounce.

Generally yes, that's the rule of thumb is lots of bounce for some people for soft going & low or less bounce for harder or firmer conditions, or for those people that get on with low bounce. I personally love low bounce wedges & clubs in general so will be baised in favour of them my pervious Vokey wedges were low bounce & the NV Drew wedges for me are manor fom heaven as far as I'm concerned, even in the softerconditions this time of year.

You have to know what you want really.
