Big match tomorrow, think it will be tight, shame Super Mario is banned, think we will edge if 37 -0 , maybe easier if the rag skipper Captain Duck face is his usual joke and the Chuckle Brother is playing!
why is the match on a wednesday night though? is it so the rags can get cheap away day trains from Essex?

It doesnt matter what the result is, and what City achieve, (or not for that matter), the fact is they will have 'bought' whatever they do .

Just like Chelski.

For all his faults, at least Ferguson does like to invest in young talent to nurture, and develop from within, and not just buy extravagantly.

Really?? :D

Top 10 Premier League Transfers

1. Robinho
2. Berbatov: Tottenham to Manchester United – £30.75m (2008)
3. Andriy Shevchenko: AC Milan to Chelsea – £30.8m (2006)
4. Rio Ferdinand: Leeds to Manchester United – £29.1m (2002)
5. Juan Sebastian Veron: Lazio to Manchester United – £28.1m (2001)
6. Michael Essien: Lyon to Chelsea – £24.43m (2005)
7. Didier Drogba: Marseille to Chelsea – £24m (2004)
7. James Milner: Aston Villa to Manchester City – £24m (2010)
7. David Silva: Valencia to Manchester City – £24m (2010)
7. Yaya Toure: Barcelona to Manchester City – £24m (2010)

Add in Rooney for £23m.

The last of the "nurtured kids" are still hanging in with only Scholes & Giggs getting regular starts.

Fergie loves his cheque book, he had to keep his son in "commision" (allegedly) don't forget. Naughty BBC!! :D

2 Rio Ferdinand Leeds United £29.1 million July 2002
3 Juan Sebastián Verón Lazio £28.1 million July 2001
4 Wayne Rooney Everton £27 million August 2004
5 Ruud van Nistelrooy PSV Eindhoven £19 million June 2001
6 Anderson Porto £17.3 million July 2007
7 Owen Hargreaves Bayern Munich £17 million May 2007

United look to have serious worries about squad selection, some kind of virus picked up when passing through Moss Side, sorry Turkey, Tevez being available will be vital for City, so with all that in mind, I'll go for 0-1.

Yes - the lad Berbatov has flourished under Fergie's protective wing since his days as a shy Salford schoolboy...oh, hang on.....

Man Utd don't buy success? Don't make me laugh. They are as bad as the rest of the chavball clubs in the Premier League. They'd spend more if they could too but they are now bitter and hamstrung by the Glazers debt.

Come On Citeh! Blue Moon.....you saw me standing alone etc etc.

I had a season ticket on the Kippax for 3 years when I was at Uni in Manchester. Love the blues, hate ManUre....

Edited to say great minds use Wikipedia Robobum eh?

United do indeed spend large, but it's within their means (or was) whereas City and Chelsea are spending money outwith the reaches of their finances, thats why they are both a wee bit screwed by the new UEFA finance rules, whereas United, even burdened with vast debt, are not.

Using some of the names above as examples-

Nani @ £14.7M, could sell him for more in the summer, so good business. He also has three championship winners medals#

Carrick @ £14M, again, could sell him for more ( or the same) as he cost, plus he's helped win titles & Cups

Rio @ £29.1M, alot of moolah, but worth every penny.

Hargreaves, good player, dodgy knees, fail

Berbatov @ £30M, over-priced, but a joy to watch plus he's got a medals at United he never got at Spurs

The point I'm trying to make is United live within their means, buy players and bring them through, make an operating profit even when hamstrung with massive debt, are second in the league even though theyve played crap all season, have pretty much qualified for the next phase of champs league, get over 70,000 pretty much every league match and Ferguson has won 24 major trophies since arriving ( he's seen off 12 City managers since he arrived at OT) but the future is sky blue?Deary me.
Since 1976:
City Managers = 24
United trophies 28 (including Charity Shield)

Addendum

Leaving out Giggs/Scholes/GNeville, here's a list of players brought through at United who have won trophies under Ferguson

Gibson,Fletcher,Evans,OShea,Brown,Fabio,Rafael,Beckham,PNeville,Butt and add those names to bargains like Evra,Vidic,Ole,Schmeichel,Bruce,Irwin,Kanchelskis,Cantona & Van Der Sar and thats just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more.So United buy and develop players, City certainly do not and Chelsea have only just started to.

Didn't they buy him from Boro 12 months ago?
Surprising that no one mentioned that waste of monet Ronaldo..... oh I forgot, they made a small profit.
Oh and Mikel who never played for Utd and and sold for 12million.
If you look over the period of Fergies tenure, his nett spend is miniscule in comparison to some clubs
