I'm not a member of a club so handicaps have never been something I've worried about - I play for fun and never in competitions. So when I discovered my GolfShot phone app has a 'calculate your handicap' option I thought I'd give it a go. I had tried to use it before but it had never seemed to work - I'd stuck my handicap at 28 & left it.

Anyway, after a 93 at Pyrford Golf Club (lovely course) on Monday, my app had calculated my handicap - to 20.9!

To say that I am shocked is an understatement. My goal this year was to break 90 & (if the year was kind to me) get a teen handicap. This now looks like a very achievable goal without £££'s of lessons!

Anyway, gloat over.

I have never got that thing on golf shot to work for the handicap. As it happens I gave up and started using a laser. What did you do to make it work?

I think the trick is to leave the handicap field blank, then tick the automatic handicap box. Then it takes 3 or 4 games from that point to pick up the handicap - it won't go back to old scorecards. I think. :)
