Maybe going back to my old faithful

I have gamed a now very tatty Titleist 909 D2 9.5 with a Graphite Design YSQ shaft for years. Around Christmas time I got myself a Titleist 913 with the Diamana S+ 9.5 and I have really struggled to fall in love with it.

The 913 feels more under me, I feel like I am more aware of where the head is and it feels more solid at impact but I have just never hit it that well.

Today I played 18 holes with the 909. The head feels lighter, the tip feels softer (not a nice feeling) and I don't feel sure where the head is but I hit the center of the face more, release the club better. The ball gets up quicker, flys higher and rolls out more.

To hell with feel. The tatty 909 wants back in the bag.

bloody difficult club to hit the 913 in my opinion , i went to get fitted for one a while ago , no chance

ditch go and get fitted for a club thats suitable for your swing and ability , i ended up with the driver i hadnt looked at or considered just be lead by feel and the data results

Ye I am not one for going backwards really. I am considering getting a YSQ for the 913 but I am kinda sick of mucking about. Might just regrip the 909 and crack on.

HID is getting me a fitting at Golf Principles or Precision Golf in a while and she was like "I am not going to spend £400 for you to go back to your old one!!"

I was thinking "No, your not, its going to be more like £500...."

Have to say Im pretty surprised to read this Al, what Ive seen youve been hitting the 913 really well. Decent ball flight, nice control and think I saw you miss 1 fairway last time we played. Have a sneaky feeling this is actually about the dent not the old club though

On the face of it you know me well, normally I would be like that about something cosmetic, but I actually promise its nothing to do with the dent. The 909 just flew a lot further yesterday. I am all grown up now, no iron head covers, no pink tees. I am all bear metal and wood....
