I don't know if this has already been noted but with all these new adjustable clubs around lately, I wonder if anyone has made the point that the characteristics of the club should not be changed during a qualifying round. It's seems perfectly easy to slide a weight from side to side or forward and back on your driver, or even change the loft on some clubs, but it's against the rules during a competition round.

It is, the changeable clubs are for the most part a fitting tool. Some change them pre round for wind conditions.

Everyone knows you can't adjustment them kid round. It's up to the player to abide by that rule.

The same way as you can't sneak a 15th club into the bag.

No one goes around counting your clubs and no one watches you to make sure to you don't adjust your driver but you are expected not to cheat and abide by the rules .

That's all quite true, but none of the advertising or testing has mentioned that they can't be adjusted during a round. I'm sure that many people buy them thinking it's OK to fiddle with them if things are not going to plan.

I have a feeling most regular comp players know they can't be adjusted during comps

I can't recall anyone suggesting to change it during a comp

I've never played with anyone who has changed a setting, even in a bounce game

What's the situation if the screw comes loose during a round. Happened while playing with someone this weekend, is he allowed to tighten it?

It's perfectly OK to "fiddle with them" but don't do it after you start your round or do it when you are practising.

If for argument sake you went and got fitted for your driver and found the best set up for your game why bother changing anyway? I think most golfers have the nous and integrity to know that changing the set up in a game is against the rules. If I was playing a bounce game and my PP wanted to try a few different settings then providing we weren't playing for cash or he didn't enter the swindle I wouldn't have an issue

I have mine at neutral, I'm sure at some point I will have a driver lesson and we might tune it.

Its good to know the option is there and my driver has a longer life, even if my swing improves!

I am not one to change clubs often so its important to do all I can to maximise this one, adjustability offers that reassurance!
