May go for a round tomorrow...

Off to the range tomorrow and got a game with the boys on Sunday so looking forward to hustling a punder a head as normal. Got a game at Temple on Tuesday and the Oxfordshire on Friday (freebies!!!!) so looking forward to those.

I was going tomorrow but its freezing tonight and friends have just rung to announce their visit tomorrow so it will have to wait till monday, but I will get out before new year Im determined.

Get out there and do it! Wrap up warm and enjoy it. Froze my nuts off this morning but after a while I warmed up.

Playing half decent helped my mood greatly, played 9 holes and scored 9 bogeys, not bad considering
A) Im a bit crap
B) I was hungover
C) Never played the course before
D) No flags on greens
C) Guessed all the distances.

Got this mixed thing tomorrow. Got the old scrote packed in the bag, just in case I suddenly think of a use for it. Judging by the gritters I have seen on the road today, I guess we wil be temps. Went or a 30 mile bike ride today, freezing cold, not looking forward to golf tomorrow.

I am away at a family function tomorrow and stopping over night before traveling so I won't be getting a game in until the 29th at the earliest. :(

It hasnt rained here all week, Im out for a game no matter what, I cant wait to give this ERC 3+ a crack and hopefully it wont be icy so we have the full course.
Fingers Crossed. :D

30 miles! crikey! thats serious riding murph unless you mean motorbike? :o

30 miles on a push bike isn't that far, its only a about 2-3 hours riding.

Murph what you ride? What tracks you do?

Just back from my round, damn ice made it a little trickier round the greens but returned 32 points for 14 holes so quite happy.
The ERC 3 strong, its a keeper :D

Hi, I ride a scott hard tail with 1.5 road tyres if I ride with the wife, a ribble scandium road bike with shimano 105 if I ride on my own, or a specialized enduro if I am doing proper stuff.

We normally ride a lot on hols, normally about 70 miles a day. 30 miles is just a winter ride really, to shake out the cobwebs.

Brendy thats some great going, I had a poor 24 points for 18 the other day and felt I played well. New irons and new distances didnt help I kept striking well but was either short or long, Now I have the SC2.5 hopefully I will pick up my yardgaes with out to much fuss.

Murph I just bought a TREK 4300 hardtail before the winter, I intend to take up riding about once a week. Living in Chester I am not to far from the peak district and also North Wales. Hold on, I am going OFFTOP here so will switch to OOB.

Tony stick at it, if you are happy with your striking the rest will come.
I put a ball out of bounds, chunked a 3 iron 150 yards (obviously didnt mean it!!) and came off today with a gross 72 (par71) and was happy with how I was hitting the ball, I also lipped out twice where the ball was 3/4 in the hole and managed to come out, not the weather to worry about putting though. I won the best gross (plenty of single digit h/c players out too) and a big bottle of baileys for my efforts.

Anyway, ball striking, its the one area of your game that gets as much use as your putter so if you are happy then it spreads into the rest of your game, you will be putting the ball closer and when its closer, its a little easier to get the ball in the hole.

Last night I came down with the flu, real flu, my boy had it and I just thought I had a bit of a cold, but by evesong I was dead on my feet, everything hurts, headaches kiil me, throat is really severe, I feel like shite and shivvered all through the night, dont feel much use today either, I hope its gone for tomorrow or tuesday, or I wont get my last round for 08 in as I planned.

Played today in a roll up friendly 4 ball. We played matchplay and I had an ok round. I lost a ball off the tee at 2 (OB right) and the 3rd (pushed right into the protected environmental area) but after that I hit the ball pretty well. Putting was good (31 with no 3 putts) and the short game more solid than recent form.

I did come off with a sour taste though as I managed to lose 2 balls on 18. Playing directly into a very low sun I hit what I thought was a solid and straight drive but no-one managed to see it. We searched both sides of the fairway without any joy so have no idea what happened. I put one down to play up the hole (we had won the match) and hit a 5 wood which caught a single tree branch and noody could track the deflection and another lost ball.  :( So despite losing 4 balls (2 deservedly and 2 could still be out there for all I know) I managed a reasonable 35 despite not scoring on 3 holes.

I think I might wander out tomorrow as well. I'm hoping some people will be back at work and that the course will be quiet so I can get a bit of on course practice (playing 2 balls) in.

SWMBO has a day off tommorow so I will be out at the crack of dawn to get my fix, I hope the greens aint frosted as I want to use the sky caddie. Probably just 9 for me and then I look forward to Wed when I will be playing Padeswood with FFTD and maybe StuartC, hopefully some others too. Be a great way to end the year!

How frustrated was I yesterday. Was trying to fit in a round before a big family lunch. Pitched up at 10.00 but queues meant could not tee off until nearly 11.00. Still thought that I may have time so teed off but it was slow going. Had 22 points after 10 holes but had to walk in to make it back in time. Could have been a really great round....

.....but would probably have blown up and blobbed most of the remaining holes
