Can someone recommend a mattress for person requiring long term care. MIL is increasingly getting bed bound and starting next round of Chemo this week. As she is now spending more time in the bed, I had got her a Eve original mattress last year. But the mattress is sagging (despite its memory top layer). Have to rotate it every month, but both ends have sags. I emailed the manufacturers of Eve but they have shut shop and new owners wont accept liability.

So looking for another mattress that can take someone sleeping on it most of the day. It is for a slatted bed.

IMO, stay away from memory foam mattresses for long term use, they just aren’t designed for it.
A good pocket spring mattress with a thin foam layer would work much better.

We had the same conundrum when my Gran was struck by dementia and spent nearly two years bed bound.

Have you thought of hiring? Sheldon Healthcare U.K. do a hospital type bed, with mattress and electric riser for around £50 a week. They might do a better price for long term…? Worth a call??

tnx.. we havent gone down that for 2 reasons,
1) This wont thru our hallway.. too many right turns to get to the bedroom. Our current challenge is getting a single matteress.
2) We opted for a sit-up-pillow... it is brilliant and does not take up the room (or give it the hospital feeling). I dont remember how much we paid, it was 500-600 kind of money, but we have already used it for over 18 months.
