Matchplay

I like the putting side of it. The pressure putts to half the hole I like.
I play of 15 and a few of the people of I play with are single figures. I quite often shoot below my handicap (just don't get enough chances to play comps!) and getting 8-10 shots of them seems unfair on there part as there isn't a world of difference between our game!

Absolutely love it! it's the combatative nature of it, you know exactly what you have to do to win each hole and it can be very tactical, not just about grinding out the best score you can, but ensuring you score 1 less than your opponent(s).

I have played 15 matchplay rounds this season, singles and 4BBB, I am 13 - 1- 1.

Having said all that, I still think strokeplay is the purest test of your golf!

I love it for the same reason tactics pressure and being forced into a pressure situation or forcing someone else into it

Played with father in law at Kington (what a unique course!) yesterday and debated what format all the way up to the 1st tee. Agreed on MP and so glad we did.

All square on the 18th (a drivable par 4 with death right and a coma left) my honour I was feeling confident and played it. Ended up back of the green.

1st time in 3 years I've got into his head and he switched clubs and spanked it pretty much into somebody's garden 100 yds down the valley. :D

It could have gone a whole lot worse for me and strokeplay I'd have gone 6iron all day long, but was such a good game always more drama and talking points, matchplay for me all day long

I think everyone has been humped by a much higher handicap at some point. I still enjoy playing it though. Still in the 4BBB and singles.

This.

I love playing it but it must be frustrating having to give 12 shots to opponents then they play like a scratch golfer:angry:

I generally enjoy it but today I was giving 6 shots to an 18 handicapper who played to +5 gross and was +1 gross after 9 holes. It was an achievement just to get it to the 16th green playing against that!

Played a KO the other night. Giving 7 shots, 3 down at the turn, got back level at 16, missed birdie at 17 which was my chance as he has shot up last. Hit best drive of day up 18 and he cracked, made 6 to my 4 so I went one up on 18th green for first time in match. I'm with those who love it!

Love it, 4 up with 5 to play on Thursday last week in the club knockout :) .

Opponent hits a seam of birdies and soon I'm dormy 1 going down the last.:o

Two decent drives but he has the valley of death to go over to get close to the flag. I can attempt the same shot or bump and run onto the green knowing I won't be near the hole. I take the second option and force him to play the tricky shot, which as a 8 handicapper he feels he should be able to handle - result is he's off the back and in trouble. Two putts for me and a easy win in the end. Great fun.
