Like a few others recently, I have my first matchplay match since I started playing again on this Sunday morning.

Due to the fact that my oppo's number wasn't on the board and they never contacted me either (my number's been on the board for a month) I also have my 2nd matchplay this Sunday afternoon!!

Singles at 6.34am, pairs at 2.10pm.

I'm really looking forward to it. I love the different strategy involved in playing against just one person (or pair) rather than the course.

Hope I do as well as the others on here that haven't had a matchplay match for a while :) :)

Would I be right in assuming that we'll be off the white tees, the same as for a medal?

It should be off the competition tees - whichever you normally use for comps. Do you have a Member's Handbook with all this info in? A couple of clubs around here do that - they list the format, tee etc etc for each competition so if you're not sure you can check it out.

It should be on the board so I can look before I play, or ask in the pro shop if they're open that early!

It's not in the handbook I've got, that just has comp names and fixtures in.

Part one accomplished :D

Won 2 up with both of us playing less than good. It was one of those where you just never feel like you're going to lose even though there was never more than 2 holes in it all the way round.
Why do people (me!) take it easy when we think we're going to win? I guess killer instinct is just something you've either got or haven't, and I haven't :(
It nearly came back to bite me . Dormie 2 after 16, we both hit approaches inside 15', my oppo holed his and I didn't. Luckily parred 18 to win it otherwise I'd have been going up the first again.

I hope my battery gets enough charge in the couple of hours I've got before I'm off again, and that I play a bit better this afternoon, but I'll take any win :)

I've never felt destined to win anything before, but I do now.

Never more than 1 down, but never winning until the end. We came back from 1 down 4 times, the last being on the 17th.

On 18, our 9 h'cap opponent was 10 yards short of the green in 2 with nothing in the way, and ended up taking 6 for a half!

My partner hit OOB on the 19th, and I hooked into the rough with a big tree in the way of my approach. A club extra and a big fade left me short sided, chipped on and made the 8' putt for a half.

I hit OOB on the 20th and my partner scuffed his rescue off the tee (45oyd par 4), but recovered to make 5 for a half.

We won it on the 21st. I never thought we were going to win until we both hit the 21st (par 3) off the tee and they both missed.

Probably get stuffed next round but I'll never know how we won that match!
