Ok playing Quarter finals of our clubs pairs matchplay tomorrow.

We are playing one lad off 2 and another in mid singles. These are good golfers but they are VERY slow. Problem is we are teeing off at 5.30 - giving at most 3.5 hours of playing time. So what happens if we still have holes to play and it gets dark? Do we walk in and play again another day? Do we toss a coin? How many people need to agree if we to quit when it gets dark?

Any ideas?

I suppose when you finish a hole and its too dark to continue you come out again at the earliest opportunity to finish.
I would have thought all would have to agree but there's probably a rule about this in the book. Suspension of play? I'll have a look.

Well if I had to come back, I'd only be coming back to start at the point we left off when it got too dark to play.

Unless the club have a rule that says you must start again, I'd be saying that any continuation is from the point where you last played.

My wife played a tie tonight, starting at 5.30pm and they ended at the 15th with a win. It was too dark to play by 8.30 but they were safely in the bar by then.

I think you're pushing it timewise if it's fourball you're playing ;)

Check if the competition rules cover it. If not then make sure you agree between yourselves what to do before you tee off. Otherwise the state of the game comes into it and it's then difficult to agree.
