I played in a men versus ladies match today. Format was 4 ball better ball. Since they changed the handicap allowance it's getting quite difficult to play against them. One of the ladies was a steady if not particularly long hitting 30 handicap. Adding 2 'adjustment' shots because they were playing off the Gent's stroke indexes bought this up to 32, so 90% of the difference between my 12 handicap gave her 18 shots, 1 per hole. Her partner was a pretty competent 19 handicap who got 8 shots. Although my partner and I both played reasonably well, we lost 1 down at the 18th hole. I think that under the old 3/4 handicap allowance we would have won!

Proves Delc that the hcap system worked very well indeed. Sounds like a very good, close match.
That aside beat by a girlie. I wouldn't of posted.
Even when I got hammered by a girlie I never posted:whistle::rofl:

Don't forget that we had to play off the white tees, while the ladies played off the reds. At one par-5 hole (which they won) there is a 140 yard difference! Playing into a stiff breeze, we did quite well to even get past the Ladies tee with our drives!

What a poor post just full of bitterness and sourness

You lost on the last - so by that account he HC allowance has worked out pretty well and you had a close match.

Right now you are just coming across as a bitter loser. And it's not the first time

As you appear to not to be able to handle losing to people with a Higher HC than you I would suggest you stop playing HC matchplay and play Scratch - that way you can't cry and whinge about the HC allowance

The ladies quite clearly played better relative to their ability than you and your partner did

If there was only one hole in it after 4 of you played a whole round, sounds like they got the handicaps spot on.

I've lost the last 3 matches I've played against the Ladies, all since the handicap allowance was changed to 90% for 4BBB. Perhaps I should start wearing a skirt!

Oh shut up!!!!!!!!

I read it as a bit of light hearted reporting of a situation that doesn't happen very often.

Seek and you shall find.

Oh no internet hardman is about again

And that is what you call lateral thinking...

High handicappers have a high handicap for a reason :)

And like others have said, that the match was not settled till the last, suggests it was pretty good handicapping. And would the higher of the two ladies having 3 shots less really have made a difference? And the lower having one less?

What was your record agaisnt ladies prior to rule changes.

If if you won the majority, I'd suggest you were getting the benefit of a flawed system.

If you won less, then it's probably just you being rubbish under pressure.......

Exactly. High handicappers are inconsistent by nature and had the lady with the greater allowance played well it would have been done and dusted earlier. Clearly she didn't, you got to the last with the game on the line and came second. Nothing wrong with the handicapping as far as I can see

I normally play better under pressure! 90% handicap allowance is probably OK, but not 'adjustment' shots as well!

I read that as,

90% meant I won more than I liked so I preferred my advantage.

As many have said. It went to the last so obviously worked in making the match close.

On our SI one, the women's tees are 150yd in front with the fairway another 25 yds further on. When the wind blows in your face it is a 580 yd slog, like tomorrow. I was getting frostbite on me pecker during the winter months not getting past the women's tees.
But Delc, it is what it is.

I should add that my record in Senior's matches, where I am usually the lowest handicapper, is pretty 50:50. Would us men get 2 adjustment shots if we played off the Ladies stroke indexes?
