Bit of a tough one.

The last round of the pairs matchplay had to be played by the 31st May. We got our game played well inside the time limit, and were hoping the two pairs in the match above would do the same. Both myself and my playing partner are out of the country for two weeks this month, missing almost 3 weeks of the 30 days available.

By the 1st June no names had been put forward from the match, and by mid-week that week there was a black line put through the box by the organiser. I was in for lunch, spotted this and put our names into the next round.

In the club today, and find the line snowpaked out and a match to play. Apparently the previous match was played on time but the result not put forward till last weekend.

I fly out to Ireland in the morning, and my PP is off to China mid-week, the earliest we can play is the 27th/28th, but not the last two days.

I'm in two minds; 1) Take it on the chin and just play the match, 2) Have a right good whinge to the Comps, and then play the match. As for should the (previous) result of no names through stand, I just can't be 'arrised arguing about it...

One thing's for sure, it's certainly reminded me why I stopped playing pairs matchplay for years. What a flamin' spheriod ache getting these games sorted!

3. Advise the comp organiser that actions have put your team in a difficult position and that you will both be back and available to play on the 27/28 as long as your opponents are available. Otherwise you may need a short extension but will easily catch up for the following round etc :)

At my club the top game on the draw issues the challenge using the book provided in the locker room , giving 3 dates of which 1 must be at weekend.
There must be a minimum 8 days between first challenge date and the last.

If the dates offered are not suitable then tough luck , unless the challengers are willing to come and go.
As you said Brian too much hassle and giggerypokery goes on, that's why I gave them up. Sad.
