Finally they club are allowing us to play off actual grass and on the fairway!

We've been on the mats since mid november so its a relief to be back to normal.

But to be fair for they size of club we have (around 400-450 members) it has been well managed and we'll benefit in the summer with better fairways and greens.

How is everyone else's clubs doing? still on mats, teeing up?

We are going onto full course next friday, looking forward to playing off the whits again.

Monifieth's courses have binned mats since the start of the month and full course for all that time - there are still some bunkers which have had work on them and aren't in play yet - but it's all looking good.

I was going to post what I thought was a cracking deal for Carnoustie - all three courses (Championship, Burnside and Buddon) for £86 before end of the month - but it looks like they are on mats until end of March.

North Berwick came off mats at the start of March - still preferred lies on the fairways at the moment. They put a load of sand down last week on the fairways so hopefully that will have worked its way in by now. Greens are in great shape for this time of year.

Never used mats or have to tee it up in the fairway and it never seems to suffer because of it, this year will be the big test as we have an extra 200 or so members than last winter.

Played 9 holes last night and there's the odd divot but nothing more than usual.

Can stand mats, hate them with a passion. I refuse to play off them now as they are pointless.
