Masters Drive Pitch & Putt

I do find this a bit strange. Very, well, American. While I like the sentiment of the event and its purpose in promoting youth golf as well as the Masters, I find it odd how serious Americans almost enforce sports on to kids.

I also realise I am a crumudgenly auld git as well.

Not sure there's too much pushy parent enforcing their offspring here (although what goes on in the qualifiers to get to Augusta I imagine is a lot different) but I know from having in-laws out in San Diego that it does seem they are pushed and that there's a very strong winning is all mentality. That said I've also seen excrutiating examples of pushy parents at junior football and golf over here too so it's not exclusive to this or the US

My god. The boys all looked so serious when going up to collect their prizes.

I'd have been grinning like a loon at their age winning something like that!

Quite inspiring, really nice to see the daughter of one family winning this year after the son contested in last year.

I've seen that before and yes, PUshy Parent doesn't begin to cover it

I remember seeing a documentary years ago about a group of UK pushy parents and their kids. There were 2 golfers, a tennis player and a boxer I think. I'm sure one of the golfer's dad's had nicknamed his son "The Wolf". I also seem to remember he got caught with too many clubs in his bag at a competition and accused the others of having it in for his son when it was pointed out. I wish I could remember what it was called.

I remember the one. Think it was on Channel 5 (or 4) and the golfer's dad had a massive chip on his shoulder about his son's ability and how he was going to be the second Tiger. Funny enough he seems to have gone off the radar and no doubt the kid got totally disenchanted with the game and jacked it in

One of the kids was aim pointing ffs!!!
And we think slow play is an issue over here??!!

Watching them all walk down the green to look at the putt from behind did have me wondering whether they were just doing it because they'd seen it on the TV.

Indeed, it was horrible to watch.

They seemed so natural when chipping and driving but ma y of them seemed to be putting by numbers

I saw one using Aimpoint, but he holed the second putt so.......

It shows how fast the green must be when so many of them blew the second putt way past the hole. I know they're only kids but they've had a practice first and a lot of them must be decent golfers.
