Going on from the thread about the masters should lose its majors tag. One thing that I dont agree with is the crowd situation.

I dont know what they call them, but this thing only gets opened about once every two decades, where you become, shall we say a "name", so you can get tickets. So I presume, apart from people who get tickets on the black market, it is locals and yanks only.

You can see that they do give the Europeans and others a bit of support, but surely it is loaded towards local and American players. I dont think this selective crowd picking is fair. I know for the open anyone can apply, and I'm guessing it is the same for the other majors, so why should it be allowed for this tournament. Even the ryder cup with it's partisanship, can have "away" supporters, and it adds to it.

It is wrong, and I love the masters, but its hould be de-majorred until this is fixed.

No black market for tickets there ;) Patrons would lose their privileges if their tickets were on the black market. I know of one person from my area who has been in recent years, so it is possible.

I think there is a ballot system in place to enable 'third parties' the opportunity to purchase tickets... A former work colleague has been a couple of times in recent years...

And rightly so DCB.

The pertinent questions are (and I have followed the link, but can't be a##ed making an account up):-

1. Are they easily available to non-Americans.
2. Are they extortionate prices, in relation to the pricefor the "patrons".
3. How many tickets are available for non-patrons.
4. How many of the tickets available to non-patrons are only passed on to travel companies/corporate for them to charge extortionate "travel deals".

When it comes down to it, is it possible for a European to pay £100.00 for a ticket only, without a letter from the pope? I doubt it.

I applied for this years ballot of tickets but unfortunately got none :(

I will be definately applying again for next years tickets :)

If you could be arsed you would see that they are priced at around $70 USD each.

Well good luck, but if you apply 10 years on the run, and dont get any joy, let me know how you get on with your (probably) non-existent $ 70 ticket.

The only way it could get any worse, is if UEFA or the FA run the ticket allocations.

we had a trip to the masters organised by our pro ( tour company) and consisted of flights,1 week in the USA (room only) full access tickets and transfers to and from augusta national all for the princely sum of £4550,i think there is 6 people going,he does the same thing for the ryder cup but that is even more expensive.

Archerfield host an annual comp....the prize? Your three ball get to go to The Masters, stay in a house hosted by Gary Player, and if your lucky like the winners last year, he'll take you out for a game. From my understanding, the winners last year almost cried when they had to leave, they thought no-one could have been nice as Player was.
Think the price of entering the comp is pretty reasonable, about £200 per team, and you have to pay for your own flights...the only issue is it's only open to Archerfield members!

One thing that is 100% guaranteed is that if you apply for the tickets you have more chance of getting them than being very negative and not applying at all just because you cannot be bothered.

I will make sure you will be the first to know about my probable tickets...LOL

I really hope you do get them, means hope for us all.Don't book your flights first though.

My main point though is 95% of the support is American., and very select Americans at that.

It's a good thing tickets are hard to come by, it weeds out the normal idiotic American crowds.

Couldn't think of anything worse than hearing shouts after every single shot. The galleries at The Masters are by far the best in America. If they made the ticketing process easier for everyone, you'd end up not with more European support there, you'd end up with a vocal type of ignorant American fan bellowing USA USA USA and MASHED POTATOE.

POTATOE/potato TOMATOE/tomato.
:)
The "get in the hole" merchants were still out in force, but look at the different reactions to the good shots from Bubba to Oosthuizen, very partisan American crowd IMHO.
